For us its a step up, a step into the brighter lights of the Big 12 and FBS. For some Iowa State fans its apparently a chance to act superior and be impolite.

I'm not happy with how some Cyclone fans have acted in this thread but lets not act like ISU fans are the only ones perpetrating the superiority and lack of class here.

For a look at the NDSU all time won/loss record look here:

NDSU all time record

Why would any of us care about what your all-time record is when it is comprised of mostly D2 competition? I don't see how it has any relevance.

All football is about tradition. Its the past that keeps us interested in the future and tradition is record of the past.

If this were the case nobody would care about us because our past is nothing to get excited about. We are excited about the future for what the future holds on it's own.

Looks like you havent seen the last of us yet:

Just released:

North Dakota State's men's basketball team will play a nationally televised game at Iowa State this season, one of 28 games in the schedule the Bison released Monday for the 2009-10 season.

The Bison will play at Iowa State Jan. 9, a 3 p.m. game that will be televised on ESPNU. To accomodate the game, NDSU moved its originally scheduled Summit League game at Missouri-Kansas City to Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Ah! You will get to meet the mighty Brackins and company. That should be a real treat for ya! Hopefully, though, we don't have an emotional hangover from beating Duke a few days earlier!

Pretty sure we played NDSU in basketball recently too...(last couple of years for sure). If we had played them in bball this past year, NDSU would most likely have won. You guys had a very good team and even pushed KU in the tournament game.

It was a fun game to watch!

This year, ISU MBB should be greatly improved and NDSU lost their great senior players. I am definitely more concerned about the football game than the basketball game.

This...thread...won't...die....
Yes, this thread won't die because Bison fans have not even started to stop by to say hello yet. If you think we are going to say wow, it's the mighty Iowa state team we better be scared.......its not going to happen. You clown fans are underestimating the abilities and coaching of NDSU's team. I look forward to seeing a close game and you can all dream of a blowout......the goofer fans did that too.......

But I look forward to that one. There can be some legit smack talk with some fun to it, thanks to your NCAA trip last year. We respect that, and we'll thank you for the little "boost" on our way there this year.

Wow. The threat of further #s of Bison fans is very intimidating. I am now scared of the Interweb highway.

If they're coming from the Ground Chuck fan forum I think they're coming from, all three of them have registered on this site already anyway...

The margin of victory in the football and basketball games should be similar.

Hello to all. I don't want to get in the middle of the ******* match about who will win or who should win but I wanted to answer this post. Bear in mind I haven't read the rest of the thread so I don't know maybe someone else already mentioned this. How do we get excited? It's about playing for a championship. Not about some silly Bowl and ranking system that is so flawed it isn't even funny. The day FBS gets rid of the ridiculous system of Bowls (which I know won't ever happen due to $$$$$) I'd get more excited about it. For now you can play for a mythical championship. For me I get excited about playoffs and a real Championship. If you like the bowl system more power to you but I for one can't see how that is very exciting at all. Hey you got to play in the toilet city bowl big deal. How many bowl games are there now and what does it really mean? Do recruits get excited about the Motor City Bowl or the plethora of other stupid bowl games?? Now carry on and back to your debate about the game.

I can understand your excitement, a playoff system makes perfect sense.

I think I would rather have a chance of playing for a national championship against the best teams in the college football, or just competing with the teams in the Big 12, rather then winning an intramural championship....Winning a t shirt and getting your pic in the local newspaper is great!

I would venture to bet that most (if not all) of the teams playing in those "plethora" of bowl games would beat NDSU. ISU most likely isn't going to one of those bowl games this year, so that should say a lot about who wins this game.

This thread has passed from merely idiotic into the clearly ridiculous.

First off, this game isn't about tradition. It's about NDSU getting a payday. Neither NDSU or ISU has any tradition anybody cares about. ISU hasn't been a perennial winner by any stretch of the imagination and NDSU's tradition was garnered in a league and conference that most people don't even know exists.

I'm glad you guys are proud of your team. The Panther fans have annoyed me repeatedly on here but the fact remains you will struggle to ever win a conference championship in a 1AA conference because they are obviously the cream of the crop there.

It's impossible to impress us with an 18k seat football arena. So let's just save you the time. We actually have an 18k seat football arena in Iowa, it's where our AF2 team plays and it looks a lot nicer than your dome.

this is all very true

One thing that is very true........Iowa State has a tradition of losing in football......in a major division 1-A conference. Just like NDSU has a tradition of football in division 2 which would translate to complete and utter failure in division I-A and/or mediocrity in division I-AA.
Fixed it for ya
