The NCAA will increase the number of allotted scholarships in football, men's basketball, softball, volleyball and more in a new agreement set to be filed Friday.

Although it won't apply to ISU, the baseball change seems odd -- 11.7 to 34?

Odd for one is I don't know what 70% of a scholarship is ... but mainly, why such a large increase?

Can't say that's a good move.

Especially for basketball. Would rather see WBB reduced to 13 than men's go up to 15.

Getting real close to turning out the lights on anything below the P2?3?4?5? level.

This is a deathblow to the lower levels from a competitive standpoint and this is only the first domino, wait until they come after autobids and splitting up NCAA tournament revenue in the same way they split the CFP revenue.

Does Title IX apply for all scholarships at each school (meaning if they increase say football, they have to increase a women's amount too?) With ISU being tight on funds, I would think we wouldn't increase our scholarships if that is the case.

Isn't increasing baseball scholarships an objectively good thing for ISU?

Right now, all of the men's sports below FB and BB are on equivalencies. For example, wrestling splits up 9.9 scholarships among the entire team (35-40 on the roster).

So the Alabama's and Georgia's of the world will now get to offer 20 more scholarships to players, and that is supposed to help schools like ISU how?

What was wrong with staying at 85 scholarship players and then each team could have up to 20 walk ons on the roster?

Best thing for CFB is to reduce the schollie limit from 85 to 75.

Per the original article, ALL sports will be equivalency going forward:

All sports will be considered “equivalency sports,” meaning partial scholarships can be distributed to players.
