Okay, fantasy football players. Do I try to win this year, or do I try to start an all Iowa State lineup?

All we might need is a Jimmy G trade and a Trey Lance injury to potentially see Purdy get some game action. If 49ers are playoff contenders, they probably don't start Purdy in that scenario, but if they aren't, it could happen.

My league is non-standard. QB, RB, WR, RB/WR, RB/WR/TE, TE, K, D.

I could go with this.
Purdy
Hall
Lazard
Montgomery
Kolar
Allen or Soehner
Mevis (hoping he makes the Jaguars roster, but probably not)
Broncos or Chiefs

In that league, I'm with other Iowa State fans and its an auction, so I probably can't get them all, but theoretically, if I picked up a good QB, WR and decent TE, I could compete with that lineup. However, if Purdy was ever going to start, I'd go with that lineup, fantasy football results be damned.
I thought it looked promising that Mevis could make the Jags roster?

Not to sidetrack the topic too much, but I wonder what is happening with the Bears and Montgomery. I read a bunch back in February that the Bears realistically need to extend his contract this offseason if they intend him to be with Chicago going forward. Since then it has been crickets. I hope DM gets a nice contract as a top 10 back - he deserves it IMO. I have non-ISU buddies that are Bears fans and they feel the same way.

DM is going to make $2.8 million this year which includes a Proven Production Escalator of around $1.6 million. The bonus is part of the labor agreement that gives bonuses to rookie contract players in the 2-7 rounds that are playing in a targeted % of plays for a team. I am not sure of all the details. He is a UFA after this year.

I would assume the Bears are not smart enough to sign him to an extension. I would like to see him get to a better team.

agree. that's also my point though. DM is very unlikely to resign with the Bears if they decline to extend before the season starts. He has lobbied for it, and I imagine not coming to terms would produce some bad blood.

You don't have to assume about the Bears, they just aren't that smart.

Minimum contract for a drafted player. Basically what all 7th rounders got.

Makes me reconsider those posts that said he would be "better off" to not be drafted and try to make it as an undrafted free agent!

Hope somebody is asking Purdy to contribute to the "We Will Collective" so we can pay good NIL money to Dekkers. Pay it forward!

Brief research indicates the answer might actually be Osemele. He made north of 37 mil in 3 yrs with Da Raida’s
It almost has to be Osemele. Him, Tuba and Hobbs are the 3 that come to mind as having the best careers over the past 2 decades. Sprinkle in Seneca, Klein and Leonard Johnson but I doubt they made as much as the other 3

Klein has made just over $30 million in the NFL

Osemele made $47.4 million

Wallace made $12.5 million

Sage made $21.4 million

Dead Cap is $0 if they cut him. So he's only guaranteed his signing bonus. That minimum contract would be nice. Being a 10-yr. back-up QB in the NFL would be a heck of a career and payday
Getting to vested veteran status of 4+ years of service is key. Veteran minimums are nothing to sneeze at and if he is on the active roster on week 1, that year's whole salary is guaranteed.
