Props to the Sammie bros. mention from TRamp! I'd forgotten about those dudes.

Here's my lineup-

PG- Rex Walters (Kansas)
SG- Jason Sutherland(Mizzou)
SF- Anthony Peeler (Mizzou)
PF- Brian Conklin (Nebraska)
C- Victor Avila (Oklahoma)

Tim Heskett is also near the top and I don't think Fredrik Jonzen from Okie State has been mentioned. I'll throw him in there.

People may have forgotten about Avila, he was the big oaf who played some center for the 2000 Oklahoma team that beat Fizer's group in 2OT in Norman. Avila hit a shot to take a lead in the first OT and Pete says, "GOOD NIGHT....That Big STIFF hasn't hit a shot the entire game!"

That's why everyone loved Pete.

Ryan Minor from OU, always hated him. The guy from Mizzou that Tyus Edney layed up over who attended college for approx. 8 years. Grimm maybe?? Probably figure it out come march madness time when they show that clip a million times.

Even though I loved him as a player, Chauncey Billups from CU seemed to light ISU up every game - big shot after big shot. So both admiration and hate for him - although I love seeing him playing in the NBA now.

Most hated player ever is from the Big 10. Mateen Cleeves - MSU.

I have to agree with all the hate for Sutherland....didn't he have a couple of cheap shot episodes that got him in some real trouble.

Also....surprised to not to see any mention of Sean Sutton....aka the weasel. He always seemed to get under people's skin

I was at the game when he was laying on the floor and tried to kick and trip an ISU player, and NORM the NASTY just smiled wide.

Andy Osborn(colorado)=total d-bag. Just couldn't stand this guy when he played against ISU.

Haha...I loved to hate Eric Chenowith. In Feb 1999, My Freshman year at ISU, we played KU in our last home game. I have NEVER seen a crowd get into a player's head like they did to Chenowith that game. Every time he touched the ball the entire student section would chant:

"CHEN-O-WORTH-LESS"

He ended up going like 1-9 FG's that game. One of the most spectacular mental breakdown I have ever witnessed. Cudos to Hilton Magic!!!

I was at this game too and will never forget those chants, but I believe it was actually in the 2000-2001 season (my freshman year).

We were lined up for hours outside of Hilton in the cold before the game. We later came to find out that Roy Williams demanded a "closed" shoot around for his players, so that's why the students had to wait so long to get in. That just got us even more riled up and Chenowith took the brunt of our displeasure. :yes: That was my all time favorite game in Hilton and it was crazy & as loud as I've ever witnessed in any stadium/arena - we never sat down and the students were still seated right above the visitors bench.

8 pages is a lot to look through, but the most booed player in B8/12 might have been Sean Sutton. Something about him just ****** people off...

Chenowith went 1-2, 4-10, 6-8, and 5-9 for FGs in his 4 years playing at Ames.

Buck Grimm from Mizzou....agreed with you on Haase too.. Eduardo Najara...but I respected him at least.

Najara drove me nuts, but I agree, I respected him. The worst for me were Big Country Reeves and Greg Oostertag. Those guys drove me insane. They were 2 big bullies.

Also, I would add David Harrison from a few years ago who got into it with Homan, but maybe that was Homan's fault.

Boddicker is in my extended family and was born in Sioux City. Too bad they moved to Texas before he got to high school

also Byron Houston from Ok St. i swear one of our guys always came away bloody from taking one of his swinging elbows.

The incidents I remember were when he elbowed Brian Pearson, he also elbowed Paul Doerrfeld's head (which resulted in a concussion), and then the time he elbowed Julo. I remember Julo was bleeding all over the place. All three of those occasions were dirty plays.

Back in the early 80's Steve Stipanovich from Missouri was the worst. Once in Hilton I was there when it was a tight game, he was trying to inbound the ball and Lefty Moore was guarding him like crazy. Well it must have made him mad because he looked down at Lefty( Lefty was a guard and he was a tall center) and just smashed the ball into his face with both hands. So Johnny runs right to center court waving his arms and hollerin "Stop this game now!!" People were throwin all kinds of stuff on the court and all hell was breaking loose. Of course Norm Stewart just sat there with a smartarse grin on his face.

This was my favorite single moment of all time at Hilton. Missouri was the overwhelming heavyweight of the Big 8 at that time. After the game when Norm Stewart was asked about Johnny being clear out at the free throw line with the game in progress sais something like "I thought Johnny was open for a jumper but he didn't take it." I've always thought those games with Missouri were the most intense ever that I've seen in person, after Orr got things going and the games were competitive.
