I don't understand why Demetrius Jackson is a first round pick and Monte isn't. A straight comparison between them Monte is better in almost every category. Higher 2pt%, 3pt% rebound rate, steal rate & assist rate, lower TO rate, taller. The only thing Jackson has is about 20 lbs in muscle.

He's a hell of a player who's bigger, stronger, and more explosive, and can guard bigger, stronger and more explosive athletes.

Draft express is regarded as the most reliable site for mock drafts.
http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-mock-draft/2016/

Morris current at 38. If he has a really good March, he'll probably move up to the first round. Would be a win-win for all involved as it most likely means we have a nice run in the tournament.

Actually by variance ESPN has the most accurate, however draft express has the most total correct picks, I think varience is a more important number than total correct picks, but splitting hairs. I think you have to be an insider to see espn full board so not sure if Monte is on there.

Iowa State players leaving early for draft always worry me. Monte is close, but I don't even know if he'd be drafted just yet. I really thought Royce should've stayed (but for different reasons than Monte, because he was definitely physically ready) and now I REALLY think Monte should stay and not out of ISU greed. I just think his best chance for longterm sustained success is another year in college. Unless multiple teams tell him "you will be drafted. No doubt about it." I think he should test the waters and come get a Senior sendoff after yet another year of improvement as a bigger, faster, stronger Man-Man.

I really think his early thought preseason was that this would be his last in Ames. But the more I watch games, and see some of the other top pg's, the more I agree with you. Obviously Brogodon, Jackson, & Dunn are bigger bodies, etc. But, man, after watching Yogi tonight, he's good as a scorer and defender. Definitely made me think of Monte right away and how he probably needs to return and become stronger in both those areas. Although we've obviously seen games where his scoring and defense was big for us, too. Does the 'first round thing' really make that much difference to him? Because how do we know that he wouldn't be content with making $100,000 overseas if NBA doesn't work out?

That overseas thing is tenuous at best for most players....teams often make promises and can't fulfill the salaries, players move from team to team, and it can be a grind....I have several friends who started at major D1 programs who have been thru it....don't think most guys want to leave college early for that....but a first round pick obviously gives them several years of true income guaranteed....

I think if a team says we will draft you in the 2nd round even if late, he is gone. He has been saying since his recruitment his plan was to be a one and done.

Guess I never ever heard the one and done thing. In fact when he was a freshmen practicing against/with Kane, there were days where a few worried if he would cut it. Obviously, we know that worked out to our advantage. That great article a while back on him has many of his quotes about how tough it was at the beginning and how Kane nurtured him, etc.

Didn't Aaron White get drafted late 2nd round, but ended up overseas anyway? Jw

I'm selfish. I want him back. I want him back hard core.

All analysis of his draft chances on my part are colored by me wanting him to come back.

Exactly. There is a reason Ejim came back to the States to play in the D-League.

And unless you are drafted in the first round, you are most likely headed overseas or to the D-league.

I really liked the way CSP did SR Night and would love to see Monte experience that one year from now! At his after game speech he might say what my father often said, "I didn't make a million dollars this year but I had a million dollars worth of fun!"

The difference between playing 10 years as an NBA sub and 10 years in Europe is probably $20M of lifetime income. That's a lot of money to gamble if you leave a year too early.

I realize none of us can live in Monte's shoes. I think he will get all kinds of mixed messages from various sources. It will be interesting as to what will really make or break his decision. Right now his responses to Hines seemed to be all over the place with maybe(s). If you're not sure, why not come back? But, like I said, we aren't in his shoes.

I kinda hope this is Monte's last season. I think that means another B12 tourney title and a Final Four

I want him to stay real bad but . . .

Plenty of time to figure it out, but after tonight have good reason to believe that he is gone. Hope that I'm wrong.

what's "after tonight" got to do with it? Having asked that, I've been fairly outspoken all year that I've been told the same.
