I agree. It's not as big an opportunity as there was in 2004 and 2005, but there is enough vulnerability for Iowa State to make a move to the middle in the next 2-4 years. I would be very nice and timely if we could run off a string of nice bowl games about the time the GOR is about to expire.

P.S. The 4-21 record against K-State over the past 25 years also makes me quite sad. =(. I'm old enough to remember being very confident when they showed up on game day.

Ah, moral victories, well, there's been a slew of them, particularly in Ames. And I'm sure this year will be another close one. BTW, the Wizard is only 76.

Wizardry had absolutely nothing to do with last year. That was a lot of dumb luck and horrible coaching on ISUs part. KSU sucked last year, and will be no better this year. I look for the streak to end with the coaching change. There were a lot of those KSU games where they were a lot better and ISU just ran out of gas. Last year was not the case.

not quite 4-21 to be exact. Wins in 1993, 2004, 2005, 2007 with eight losses within one score.

Also missing is mention of the debacle vs. Baylor in '05 to give them their first conference road win or something to that effect.

That season alone is good reason for anyone to back off who thinks ISU would automatically do really well with an easy schedule. They were close losses, so there's that, but most of the games shouldn't have been in question.

I am a little worried about what things are going to look like here if we go 3-9, which I wouldn't be surprised at all if we do. Campbell is building for long term, but if I'm being honest I don't think we sniff a bowl game this year and I don't think we make one next year either. Hopefully people can see the long term vision and not bail on coach Campbell if that happens.

Jamie won't bail after two years so it doesn't matter with the fans do.

I think we go to a bowl game next year, but not this year.

Why are people so negative on ISU this fall? Lanning looks like he could be a hell of fine QB. He has a great receiver. And you have the league's best RB, supposedly. I don't get the Linus around here.

They were just a few plays away from a bowl game last year. A lot of that talent is back and more experienced, added some more good players to go with them... And it appears to be a better coaching staff too. Just like CPR said when he left, this years team is going to a bowl game.
