Until he starts taking a bunch of sacks because of "the angle of the DL" or the inability of the OL to block the speed-rusher, I don't want to see any changes in his footwork. Can the deep ball be better, YES. But, the outside routes have been horrible, too. A receiver should never run a "fade" route into the sideline. Money does it every time. Go back and look at all of his fades. He's at the sideline on his release. By doing that, he takes away the QB's placement window. The "fade" is called the "fade" because the QB has room to drop the ball between the numbers and sideline, thus "fade" the receiver to the ball. If the receiver runs his route below the numbers, that becomes a very tough throw for any QB because now he has to take into consideration the "out of bounds" as being another defender. Also, you have to remember that Barnett is a rhythm thrower. The ball gets out on-time. Lazy route runners don't get passes from a rhythm thrower. That's why Lenz has been his best target. He runs GREAT routes. Watch Lenz on the corner fade and watch Money on the stop and go. Lenz actually sells the post and is explosive out of his break to the corner. Ball on the money! Money doesn't even sell the stop and he doesn't explode on the go...ball "overthrown". If he holds that ball until Money gets open, its probably a sack or he has to run it. One more thing, the OL looks a lot better because they know they don't have to hold five second blocks for JB. Three hard seconds and the ball is gone or he is running. That takes a ton of pressure off of the OL and it allows them to play at their pace.
I'm not saying he's perfect or some things don't need to be fixed. There's always room for growth. But, the stuff in this thread about his drop is totally irrelevant. I would bet its not a problem for Barnett, Herman, or Rhoads. BTW, I heard on the call-in show that Money is dropping passes that hit him in hands because his hands are not soft. He needs it put into the body. Can we fix that because the ball he dropped in the goal line looks like it hit right between the crease on the 7.
