The next jersey in the rafters has to be Niang.

After Niang, then you can hang Ejim. Melvin was a roll player until his POTY senior season. Niang was the key piece to 3.3/4 of the years he played.

Melvin is an elite Cyclone, don't get me wrong, but he isn't a first ballot rafters candidate like Niang.
It doesn't matter to me in the slightest who goes first. Melvin is the next guy eligible, and he's deserving, and it's silly that this club is that exclusive.

Ejim's number needs to be up there. Perfect example of a great student athlete in the true sense of the phrase.

Also feel like Jamie kind of hinted at that when he commented that one of the criteria Kansas uses is conference player of the year.

The only way I agree with you would be if academics are weighed into this. Melvin was B2B Big 12 scholar of the year.

I'm just not convinced that the current rafter players were put up there for academics versus being absolute studs on the court.

I think that absolutely weighs into the decision, and Melvin was a Big 12 POY and 1st team All American (Basketball Times I think). The latter is enough, but add the academics, leadership and character onto that resume and it's a no brainer.
