I know everyone loves to trash mediacom but what is the best option for tv and internet in ankeny.

We will be moving back to the area from omaha so i need to get some feedback.

I LOVE HD TV. The more channels the better, and if i can catch Iowa State games that would be sweet.

Really need some feedback from some guys or gals in that area.

Thanks

If you want HD, DirecTV is the way to go.

I have no idea, I just know DirecTV is farrrrr superior over anything else when it comes to HD channels.

What about internet then?

Can you get it through Direct tv or is it just Quest and Mediacom

We live on the southside of Ankeny and started with Mediacom 4 years ago. They sucked it up for almost a year, bad internet and tv signals and we switched to DirevTv and Qwest.
That went well until a few months ago and Qwest is now worthless to everyone in our neighborhood. Pretty much everyone has dropped Qwest. The tech said its their fault cause we live too far away from something.
We kept DirecTv cause they are the bomb and everyone should have it, but went back to mediacom internet this last week and the resultss are sooo much better... so far.

If you want HD, Cyclones and the fastest internet than you'll want Directv w/HD DVR and internet through mediacom.

If you don't mind your internet being a little slower than go with Qwest DSL for 1/2 price compared to mediacom.

Go with Mediacom if you like sucky service and common price increases while not adding anything and most of the time taking stuff away.

Go with the DirecTV or DISH for the best options for reasonable price. We have Quest DSL for internet and have not had any problems with it since we switched two years ago.

DirecTV with the sports pack would be the way to go. You'll need the sports pack as Comcast Sports Chicago is the sports network in all of the DirecTV packages and the Big 12 is way down on the totem pole for CSN Chicago.

With the Sports pack, you'll get FSN Midwest and their Big 12 coverage as well Fox College Sports Central.

As far as internet goes, I have Qwest DSL (1.5 down) and have had no problems at all and I live on the north side of Ankeny.

Mediacom just announced a state wide rate increase. Without knowing for sure I'm assuming this will add $4-$6 per month to my bill. I'm not making the switch to Direct TV. Does Wayne Morgan work in Ankeny?

I'm not happy with how much I pay for Mediacom but I've never had a problem with their internet or cable service. Not to mention the ISU programming you get on their Mediacom connections channel.

Why is it that mediacom is all sly with openly telling you what their HD programming and dvr costs are?

Their website is a joke for information, I called customer service las night and all she said was to try and get a channel guide or call with questions.

How can a company offer internet services and have such a ****** webpage?

Thanks for all the info and if someone could pm the actual prices for the HD with DVR for mediacom and DirectTV that would be great.

Phooey to all of them! I put a large antenna in the attic and now get sparkling HD television without the monthly bill.

I just checked their site and the price for the DVR is right there under the tab for it $9.95
And HD programing is free with the exception of UHD HDnet 1 and 2 which are extra.
