They are not or shouldn't be upset about the media ban. I think they are more upset about throwing stones from glass houses. None of this would have been an issue if Lazard wouldnt have spoken openly about taking other visits.

This is foolish. They would have skewered him even worse if he had taken those visits under the cover of darkness!

John Sears is a dbag, and the more M&A defend him, the more credibility they lose. Simple as that. Yes ISU underachieved last year. But there are gonna be years like that. We aren't Alabama. KF would be fired 4 times now if we fired someone every year they underachieved. I am one for giving the coach time. The best programs are the ones that stick with their guys in good times and bad. Rhoads is our guy. Maybe firing DMac was a mistake, but that's why you don't go and make the same mistake twice.

I agree on Sears and M&A. The local media is too much of a frat here. No competition will do that.

I can sort of paraphrase it. Let's say you have a sister, Sally, that is average looking and the captain of the football team asks her to the prom -- which is in two months -- instead of the head cheerleader, Doreen.

You overhear another person ask the star football player, "Dude, are you really going to go with Sally to prom instead of Doreen?"

Star player: "Yep, I told her I would go with her."

Person: "Are you sure, I mean really sure?"

Star player: "Yep, I am committed."

Person: "But you know what other people are saying, right? I mean, how many times have people came up to you and ask you if your are really going to take Sally to prom instead of Doreen?"

Star player: "A lot, but I keep telling them I am taking Sally."

Person: But you have been over Doreen's house once or twice for parties.

Star Player: Because she throws great parties.

Person: And so you really are going to take Sally to prom instead of Doreen?

Star Player: Yes I am.

Person: What percentage are you sure you are taking Sally instead of Dorren?

Star Player: 97-100 percent

Person: So there is a chance you could still take Dorren?

Star Player: I am taking Sally

Person: Are you sure?

Not word for word, but you get my point.
yep got it! I'd like to see the interview if it's out somewhere though. Is their a transcript or video of the interview anywhere?

Yeah and most of the ones I know thought we would suck. I figured we would win 4. Thought our d would be very bad. It started out even worse than I thought, then did improve over the year thanks to Wally's coaching, but was still bad. O was worse than I expected. I guess in the end the team I expected might have won 6 games, as the Big 12 was alot weaker than I expected.
I think most of us thought Mess knew at least a little bit about what he was doing. That was expecting too much... We would've won six games with an average OC.

Hawk fans love Danny Mac and continue to defend him and they are the first to say it was wrong to let him go. This alone proves to me it was the right thing to do.

I think the media is still in shock that we were able to land Campos last year and then turn around and get Lazard this year. Both kids are from Des Moines backyard media play area. I think that really sticks out as Iowa got the kid from Indianola, but not the 4 star player we got the last couple years. The WHO boys can sit and spin!!

This. ISU success is much worse for business than ISU failure.

I hope the SID gives Sears a parking pass at Towers for any games he covers.

Let me predict how the Jimmy B and Miller will open. Jimmy will grand stage a bit. Miller will act like he doesn't care but go on for 5-10 minutes about how stupid Iowa State as a whole is, and how petty it seemed. They will then go on to talk about this for an hour or more. How many of the posts from this site will be quoted, and only taking the ones that agree with Rhoads. Not all of the civil discussion that has gone around.

I'm actually going to listen to find out if I'm right...

I think we just found the producer/director of the miller and Brinson show!! :)

Dead on.

I see some of this whole deal as CPR defending his guy. And as others said, because not "coach speak" people get uncomfortable.

Just doing you guys a favor. Look at me as a messenger from the outside world. I understand some news is tough to swallow. I get it. However, denying reality is only gonna make it hurt worse when you realize Rhoads isn't the savior everyone thought he was initially. You're just gonna feel like you got played.

My father in law had 4 season tickets to Iowa State prior to last season. He bought into all of the Pollard/Rhoads hype. You know the whole #AllIn #OneWayForward #CycloneState. So then be upgraded to 6 tickets for last season. I seriously felt bad for him. He only ended up going to about half the games, and when he did he had to sell extra tickets for half what he paid for them and towards the end of the season he was just giving them away. He took a hit to the wallet cuz he bought into this BS.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Lazard isn't Superman. The defense will still be terrible, and there wasn't much to make you excited about at either the QB or RB positions. I don't see next year being a whole lot different. 4 or 5 wins max.

LOL ... The Big10-? ... Is soooooo tough.

I think the thing that bothers me the most is while he said he was only 97% sure he was about as committed as you can be. He recruited for us which isn't uncommon but why would you do that if you were questioning. He recruited for completely different sports when Vaughn came.

If you look at it from a objective stance (not looking for a story, waiting for a nut-shot, or a rival fan base) it was fairly clear 12 months ago he wasn't going to change.

I don't understand why M&A feel the need to defend John Sears so much on their radio show. He's no Hassel, so stop comparing the two. I love the show and won't quit listening, but the defensive stance is out of character for them and it's really annoying to listen to.
