He also said of Jon Davis, "I don't know if he's going to play in the opener or not yet, but I wouldn't count him out."

He discussed Davis at the Meet the Coaches Night and said that he is running all the qualifying times a wide receiver needs to already and for a blown achilles that is outrageous. I personally think that Davis will not play the opener simply because we will not need him hopefully. I think he will rest him and keep him as an option until the Iowa game.

I think he'll see some playing time before the iowa game - if he's ready. I'm just impressed that the boy has progressed this quickly

I wouldn't be surprised if Davis did not see much action this fall, not as a result of the injury, but because of guys like Sumrall and Hamilton. Maybe even Messiah.

They are young yet have some very good skills.

I just hope he does a better job of holding on to the football. He's had some awfully costly drops over the last couple of years.

both he and Blythe...especially early in the season...but both will have even better years this coming campaign.

It is my hope that Davis, Sumrall, and (the new frosh whose name escapes me) are able to use Blythe to their advantage. Blythe is very hyped, and rightly so. Hopefully, our opponents will focus on TB and be eaten alive by the others as well as Baarkema and Nickel.

I just really hope that Mac opens it up a little more this year, rather than pounding Hicks twice, then throwing on 3rd down.

I also hope that ISU has a tremendous year in which the kids play really hard, the coaches coach really hard, we beat Iowa for the 7th time in 9 years, <insert additional McCarneyisms here>.

Hamilton and Messiah are the two newer receivers that made splashes in the spring. Houston Jones is another that likely won't see the field this year yet did very well in the spring game.
