I remember that game, but can't remember who it was against. Brackins was dunking left and right that game, including an inbounds pass that he tomahawked down the lane. It seems like it was right about when he started his transformation into a "big man" last year, and started becoming a double double machine...

Baylor.

Thanks for the Fizer video. It wasn't as huge as I would have thought, but considering the situation it would have been amazing to see live.

What made it big:
  1. The game: the conference championship was on the line!
  2. Who: It was over Mihm, a 7-foot All American. At the time there was a raging debate over who was better...and Fizer faced hime!
  3. Where: Hilton Magic--we got the MO going and and that was more than the icing, it was the spark the exploded the place.
  4. Who: Fizer. PFs make muscle dunks around the rim. You need to see the whole play, but he athletically tracked the ball down in the corner, put in on the floor to take it to the rim, then flushed Mihm.

This has nothing to do with Fizer, but remember when Kantrail Horton got rejected by the rim.... *ahem* *ahem* ... missed... that left handed dunk.

I remember it well. Good thing we had a big lead or Larry would have lost it. I think pretty much everybody just got a chuckle out of it.

We had student seats in the first row of the parquet behind the Texas bench for that game. Believe it or not, we had been drinking before the game. There was a Texas starter that was being suspended by Barnes for something and wasn't starting. We were razzing him, and then someone asked why he wasn't starting. He turned around, looked at us, shrugged and said "I have no idea". Even the old gals right in front of us were having fun.

After the game, Barnes looked at us and said "wait 'till next year". Fun, fun times at Hilton.

To add a #5, as Fizer was taken out of the game, he left to deafening chants of "One More Year! One More Year!" Gives me chills just thinking about it.

Someone probably has a better quality video than this, but here you go.

I was parallel to the baseline and saw this play develop. It was without question the most incredible single basketball play I have ever witnessed in person. This wasn't some slacker Fizer did that on, it was a 1st team AA, and he made him look silly.

Then he stared him down all the way back down the floor.

The students then started to chant "Mihm you suck, Mihm you suck"

Tinsely also hit a really sweet 3 pointer at the end of the first half of that game.

We played behind quite a bit of the first half. If I remember right Texas had a good run to start the game and then we had a great come back.

The Fizer dunk was awesome and the crowd was great. I remember Barnes looking up at the crowd in amazement because we were so loud.

It's not the best game I've been to at Hilton, but it was a pretty darn good one.

The Fizer over Mihm is his best, but don't forget Fizer's game winning dunk in a 52-50 home win over KU. That I believe was year before Tinsley and Co. showed up and were a .500 team.

Agreed. I put that dunk ahead of the Mihm dunk even. Would have been much cooler to see Fizer go over him vs to the side of him. Still an amazing play, but not quite up there with Willie Warren over Hamilton.

Problem is when Fizer name comes up it brings mixed feelings. I'll always love the times ISU had with him, but I'll always wonder what could have been. The Elite 8 team lost Nurse and Johnson, but Sullivan and Power would have filled those voids.

Sullivan and Power were not on the same level as Nurse and Johnson IMO. Nurse and Johnson were much more athletic, stronger, and better defenders than either Jake or Shane were as freshman.
