So glad I didn't sign a lease with them. That whole building is sketchy and the management/tour guides are so shady.

Heh, Campustown was showing me and some friends some crappy apartment on Stanton, right above the drinking rehab center or whatever, across the street from Element. The apartment rep is like "ha, I might need to stop there someday if you know what I mean." I was like "we're not renting from you, if you know what I mean."

Campustown just wasn't cool to deal with.

Campustown is a joke. They employ too many young people to be run responsibly. I will never rent from them again after this past year. They charge way too much for the incredibly crappy product they put forth.

You've got to wonder who though balconies were a good idea in that building.

I may be wrong, but weren't the Legacy Towers originally intended to not allow any undergrads - I thought it was for young professionals at first? I could be totally wrong, but I know that I heard this when they were first opened. That may explain the balconies.

I'm not sure about the "no undergrad" rule, but that could be considered discrimination.

Are you thinking of the other expensive, and pretty nice, apartments just to the South of the Ark, right across the street from the western bar? That place would have been nice to live in, and I hardly saw any parties in there. However, I did have an undergrad friend living there, but he also had a roommate that I think was a grad student.

I bet that's it!

I think you're thinking of Chamberlain Lofts, the building across the street from Planned Parenthood and Outlaws. I know for a fact that undergrads are allowed to live there, as several friends have lived there, as young as a freshman. And I've been to many parties there.

The University Towers (as someone earlier said) is for graduate students and professionals only.

That's what I wasn't sure of since my buddy wasn't a grad student. However, the apartments are nice and aren't POSs like the Towers were. Always kept nicely in the halls and you don't hear of bad things happening there too often.

Property Management people can rent to whoever they want, they own it. They don't have to allow everyone or anyone to rent from them.

You're right, they can. But they can't label an entire group of people and exclude them. Two different things.

Really? Then the university has been operating illegally with living quarters by not allowing freshman to live in the Towers. Also by previously only allowing married couples to live in SUV.

I'm going to be a sophomore this year and looked at an apartment in Chamberlain Lofts. They just said they market to students who wont have keggers/jj parties every night.

Yes, how horrifying. College kids sleeping on the floor. What a revolting sight. :jimlad:
Sleeping on the floor happens but I believe this was a Tuesday morning and I was just surprised they would show us the apartment while guys are passed out. We felt bad waking them up.

Does anyone know yet exactly what happened? How did he get in the shaft in the first place?

The university has other options available specifically for freshman. They also aren't a privately owned business.
