If M-Monk chooses to attend a university other than Iowa State, all I ask is to have a memory-wipe of what I saw in that highlight reel.

We've pretty much expected him to come to Arkansas since the 8th grade but it's not a done deal.
Marcus Monk was a two sport athlete (football/hoops) at Arkansas and is now working for the UA. That should help too, but Marcus has stated publicly that he encourages Malik to take visits and weigh his options.
Just my opinion, but if he doesn't go to Arkansas, I suspect that he'll go to UK.

The athleticism and dunking are nice (understatement), but what really interests me is the passing. Not only a willingness to be selfish, but an interest in and ability to make the extra (and spectacular) pass. That's the kind of thing that really fits into Fred's system.

Well hopefully coach cal will have uk on probation soon.....then the monks will see freddy as the best choice
The completeness of Malik's game is what makes him such a great prospect.
He also has a great mid range jumper. It was amazing watching him in 8th/9th grade running circles around high school defenders and getting to the rim.
Having watched him for a long time -- I really hope that he stays at Arkansas but I'll follow him with interest wherever he goes.

On an actually larger and more consequential note, prospects like these ACTUALLY have much more to gain by coming to Hoiberg's team than so many others (teams) as mixing with studs already in the stable and an already balanced team, allows more personal growth and maturation...ultimately benefiting long term potential, etc.
Think about how EVEN at Kansas, as the season started to intensify toward the end, the pressure Andrew Wiggins felt to "carry the team" did not result in his best "showcasing" IMHO. One of these days very soon, I believe Fred will become a preferred Coach for guiding elite prospects into the NBA in an ideal way!

Monk will be a Razorback in my opinion. Arkansas is the one SEC team i like. Probably because my brother went there. Fayetteville is a kick *** town.
Guys, I'm feeling like were UNLV all of a sudden and Monk is Vaughn. The similarities are there:

The fact that Monk reached out to Fred has to help our chances. It's still a long shot but that reason alone gives me an ounce of hope.
Unless he's just using it all as an excuse so he can take his official visit for the Arkansas game.
Is it fact though? All I've seen in this thread about him reaching out to us has been speculation. I'd love to see a link, sorry if I missed it the first time around.
No, that's around the percentage I expect, but only because KU stays on the list of a ton of good recruits. It's just that Kansas is typically in on a huge amount of the Top 30 every year so hitting at 1/10 still lands you two top 30 recruits a year. KU is still on the final list in recruiting 2015 #2 Jaylen Brown, #3 Malik Newman, #6 Cheick Diallo, #7 Ivan Rabb, #10 Stephen Zimmerman, #14 Carlton Bragg, #18 Brandon Ingram and #19 Tyler Dorsey. KU will have 2-3 spots open next year. As long as they land one of these upper tier guys I am a happy camper but Self should be able to land two of these guys the way things are progressing.
Yes, the passing/awareness looks impressive.
Those dunks do, too, of course, but he's clearly not one-dimensional.
