Howard Shore is in talks to come back to score the new LOTR Amazon series. This is BIG news for me, as I consider TLOTR score to be one of the best and most epic scores of all time. Just like John Williams is sononomous with Star Wars, Indian Jones, or Harry Potter, so too should Shore be with LOTR.
Hmmmm. I was hoping for a lot of Feanor and sons. This feels more like a lot of Celebrimbor. But then again, maybe they will start from the beginning and get there, not much detail in that trailer.
This trailer is the first one that is starting to look good and feel familiar
I'm pretty excited. I think it will help me that the story of that age is somewhat vague, so the license they use in making their own alterations won't irritate me quite as much. I'm also hopeful that they won't use too much CGI like they did in the Hobbit movies. Those movies annoyed me greatly, for both of the reasons I just listed.
Interesting that they seem to have everything from the Trees of Valinor, to what looked like Beren & Luthien, and the series is supposed to be about the making of the Rings of Power. So that is like the whole Silmarilion plus some.
I'm OK with that, but it feels like 8 episodes might not be enough to cover all that ground LOL.
Maybe it is just the last bit, and all the previous stuff will be a 5 minute flashback/exposition, similar to the first 5 minutes of FOTR ("for there are none now who remember")

Just please please please dont screw it up or deviate too far from the writing.
Plenty of room to add details, big plenty, just dont make them dumb or contrary.

This leads me to believe there isn't a shared continuity with the movies, which sucks. I was hoping they would be one.
I hope they don't f*** it up like Amazon did with the Wheel of Time.

Take that back. The Hobbit movies were fantastic.
I would watch those dudes sing Misty Mountain Cold all day. Too bad the first 20 minutes of the first movie was the high point and it was all downhill from there.
