You guys are seriously so interested in being able to dislike someone's posts that you're willing to deal with hundreds of threads from Clones21 and Co. calling out all the "jerks" that disliked them? It will do more to fuel the crybabies than it will to help us keep them in check. I guarantee it.

Just as an FYI - I don't think Thumbs Down/Neg Rep/Unlike will likely ever make a reappearance on the site. We had waaaaay too many cases of abuse when we had it.

I just like it cause it's the forbidden fruit.

I do enjoy the "Thumbs Up?" center. It reminds me of the old "Up Yours?" t-shirts.

I enjoyed seeing the number of likes on a particular post, and also the person/people that gave the likes. I also enjoyed getting a notification when my post was liked.

On the other hand, I do not care about cumulative numbers of likes received/likes given over long periods of time.

I would also be a fan of a dislike button... Just saying.

I agree with all of this.

I'll enjoy any changes that allow me to like from my iPhone without having to go into desktop settings.

I think there should be a thumbs down, but for it not to show up that anyone voted it down until you get like 50 more thumbs down than thumbs up. And once that happens there is a small thumbs down icon next to your post. So essentially the post would have to be so bad to even show up to the public as a negative post.

I'm not an old fart, and I don't really buy into that whole concept, but I think having to downvote every statement you disagree with instead of just ignoring trolls and idiots is probably the real sign of "pussification".

Haha, fair enough.

Honestly, loved how it was before. If you can emulate that, I think that would be best.

This.

Note: I would have clicked "like," but I can't!

Seriously, I liked the previous functionality. I thought it was always interesting to see who liked which posts. For instance, I always paid more attention to a post when isucurt liked something.

Also, I would vote for negative rep. Don't let it be as wide open as the positive like, but just like a negative version of the positive rep with limits on the number of times you can use it in order to control trolls and sychophants. I would like to see Rep be on a continuum in which someone can move up or down (or left/right) in terms of reputation based on the volume of positive/negative.

Maybe add a "troll indicator" so that those recognized as trolls by the community can be labeled as such every time they post if they get a certain amount of troll votes. Perhaps make this function a feature only available to those of us at Level 100.

To expand on Cycsk's post. Instead of calling it a "troll indicator" we could call it a "Deano Indicator".

Based on the immaturity of many people on this board, it would be abused by many of the most active posters on the site based on the attitude that gets taken when someone suggests they don't contribute anything to a thread.
