So 2 light bulbs exploded on the ceiling fan light locAted in the baby room today and another just burned out. They are about 2 years old so time to replace but has anyone had them just explode on you?

Perhaps the baby is possessed.

seriously, though, I have had a couple blow out immediately upon inserting, but never exploding.

House light bulb? No.

When inspecting units for 12v function, I have removed park light covers and seen exploded bulbs and the telltale dust inside the lens

I don't know much about why a light bulb would explode, but you might want to put something between the exploding light bulbs and the baby. That could be hazardous on baby's eyes...

Twss.

Do you see any condensation or water near them? If water drips on bulbs they can explode if they're hot enough.

Usually if more than one at same time it is a power surge. Any other problems with anything else? Or something else non bulb related like if they are hot and get cold suddenly can happen (open a window or touch with wet hands). Did it happen when you flipped the switch? With the temp could be colder by the cieling and turning them on provides a pretty sudden temperature change. Whats wierd is the one going out and not exploding (which sounds more like a surge)...

I've actually seen them explode before.

That said, why do you hate the environment? Get the 10 year lasting energy efficient ones.
The ones that cost $14 each? No on my budget. I need ones that are dimmer lights as well. It was just weird is all. Made sure I didn't touch the new ones.

I've had two fluorescent bulbs burn out out after less than a year. Not happy with the three way fluorescents. Happy with any others and they cut my electric usage immediately.

Only time I saw a bulb explode was when I tried to tighten one that was flickering.

Not the new ones with mercury, near the baby. If they explode, you have a mess. Buy the new LED ones.

Actually, it may have been a power surge coming from Madison when Fran exploded.

Your child obviously has mutant powers. Telekinesis, or the ability to control electricity perhaps. I suggest you contact professor xavier's school for gifted youngsters.

Seriously though, I have never heard of such a thing. According to the internets it can happen because of manufacturing defects, burnt filaments ejecting through the glass, water dripping on a hot bulb, or a power surge (which causes filament to eject through the glass).

Maybe your baby is an immortal and just decapitated another immortal thus absorbing its power? Just spitballing here.

If your baby's first full sentence is "There can be only one" you'll have found the problem.
