ST was a pretty big-time recruit if I remember right.

Wayne Morgan prize recruit after Homan and Vroman graduated.

Became very sick(mono?)right before the season started. Lost a ton of weight and never contributed that season.

Had he been %100 healthy along with Stinson, Blalock and Clark......that team wins more than 20 games and makes the dance.

Of course he transfers when Wayne gets let go. Would have been fun to see him with those three players and Wayne's run and gun offense.

Although this is pure speculation on my part, but I wonder if McDermott had stayed if both Doug and Harrison would have come to ISU. I have a feeling Greg McDermott knew the writing on the wall, so neither player committed to ISU knowing the coach was on his way out.
GMac has stated that he didn't "recruit" his son to ISU because he didn't think he would be there long enough to coach him and it wasn't going to be up to GMac. (paraphrasing)

During the 2024 season with Mackay Meteors (top tier of Australian basketball), Malou averaged 14.8 minutes per game (appeared in 13 games), and in those 14.8 minutes per game, his averages included 6.3 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game.

I'm glad to call Manny a friend and I'm glad we were able to do an interview in April 2020 about his story.

Additionally, here's a Carter Boothe story from April 2022.

Theo Davis, 2005 or 2006ish. Don't think he ever made it to campus.
Tim Floyd had a bunch of guys like that, usually guys supposedly transferring from Indian Hills. Ernest Brown, Jerome "Buddy" Harper are the two names I remember most. Harper might have played a bit and might have been a Eustachy recruit, can't remember for sure.

And the McDermott's were close to Harrison Barnes. I always suspected he may have shared the same thing with him during the recruiting process.

If Eustachy doesn't party with the Mizzou coeds, and returns the next season with a core of:

Tim Barnes
Adam Haluska
Shane Power
Jackson Vroman
Jared Homan

And incoming freshman class of Taggart, Stinson, Blalock, Clark etc..

Is he still the coach at Iowa State 22 years later?

I think you meant Sullivan and not Power, but yeah regardless that team would have made the tournament.

Hell Wayne took them to the NIT final four without Haluska.

Larry would still have had to address his alcoholism but that would have taken an AD with a spine.

Yeah I meant Power but wasn't sure if he was out of eligibility by then or not. I admittedly forgot all about Sullivan

Power transferred to Mississippi State after the 2002 season. It would have been tremendous if he could have been a 4 year guy here though.

And I am not saying the rumored reason for his transfer!!!

Oh OK. I had thought he stayed on and played on that last bad Eustachy team with Barnes and Tyray Pearson

You are right he played with Tyray but that was the 2001-2002 team and they won like 12 games. The 2002-2003 was Larry's last team and that one went to the NIT and lost maybe the worst offensive game I have ever seen 2 teams play to Iowa.

Tyray man.... wish we could have seen him with a different cast as a senior.

That's right. Man, I was young and those post Tinsley seasons just kind of blend together for me
