went to the rec tonight and played some basketball and as i was leaving i saw Leonard Johnson playin some wii baseball with a disadvantaged young man, he was having a good time playing the game with him too.

I guess i am making this thread because i know alot of people think he is not a good person because of his questionable actions on the playing field, but he was very friendly to me and every one who was there, and i think he gets a bad rap.

Never thought he was a bad person.....
His emotion on the field has nothing to do with his personality off the field(I do remember the late hits he made). Good to hear though. Thanks for sharing.

Leonard's a great guy off the field. Funny as hell too. A lot of our football players have great personalities.

I'm very happy that LJ stayed and I think ISU will end up being a great place for him. He's just one of those guys that has that special something and the potential to be a great leader for this team. Glad to hear he's a good guy on campus too.

I doubt anyone ever thought he was a bad guy. He made some pretty boneheaded plays on the field, this last year, though.

He's got a TON of potential, but he's got a LONG way to go yet as a football player.

He was also sitting with kids in the front row at the beauty and the beast. Not sure if he was talking to some adults that they were with or not.

yes i really like the fire he brings on the defensive side of the ball.

I know his passion sometime translates into late hits which in the stat book looks really bad. But the players see that and in return it gets them fired up to lay down the lumber on the next play

gotta love the passion lol

It is great to hear stories like this.

Usually, all we hear is the bad news, while the countless 1000's of good deeds go unreported.

Thanks again for your post.

The funniest player is Scott Haughton. He pulls the cord to the Cy-ride bus every 5 seconds. When the driver tells whoever to do it to knock it off, he shouts in a girl's voice "I'm sorry"

I've never thought LJ was a bad person. He just wants to play the game physical and make plays but just had to learn when to use it and when not to.

I saw LJ at Hickory Park on Friday night after the wrestling meet. He was there with a couple families with lots of small kids, and instead of talking with the adults the whole time, he was messing around with the kids and having a good time. Nice to see he's a good guy in addition to being a fantastic athlete.
