Wrong they have had the option for along time. In January P5 passed full cost of attendance and 4 year schollys in effect this year (you can lose for academic or quitting team and some other reasons but not performance related).

He's not a walk on. Name one instance that has happened with Iowa State basketball
I don't think that is totally the case, it's just that our guys are really young next season if Lard gets added. Ernst has a good offensive skillset and can shoot the 3. Young is much the same. Carter is raw all around. They do need a bunch of experience so they may look lost at the beginning. If he does come it appears were going toward a bit of a different look with how posts are used (more of a defensive look than offensive). The big guys we have returning next year and the incoming big recruits seem raw on offense and as far as I can tell dont have much range. Not having seen much of Murray St in the past beyond the pg being a scoring guard how else did the team scoring break down?

I agree with your take Malou even though he is listed as a guard for Iowa State. If he wants to play at the next level he needs to really develop his post game to become a high level SF.I wouldn't expect a major impact from Lard next year. He is a recruit very similar to Carter. Athletic Posts, even if 4 stars, usually take a year or two of seasoning to become major contributors. I am optimistic that both Ernst and Carter will use this year to ready for major minutes next year, with one earning the starting not at C.
I wouldn't be surprised if Malou starts as a stretch PF next year with Burton starting at SF. Malou played that role in CC last year.
Give the staff credit for putting together a real nice first class given the late start in the 2016 process.
Bryan Petersen or Sean Haluska. I'm pretty sure one of them was on scholarship their Junior year and not their Senior year. I have vague memories of McDermott talking about this somewhere.
Sometimes highlight videos can tell you something or can be very misleading. According to that video he has a range of 3 feet. That could be true or it could be all he did at that particular camp.
It will be interesting to find out what the story is on Ashton's scholarship status. The 4 year scholarship rule could really hurt walk-ons who might be able to benefit from an unused scholarship for one year because a coach may not want to burn it for remainder of that walk-on's availability so it goes unawarded for that year rather than helping a walk-on out. It would be nice if there was a rule that made all scholarships awarded to players at their signing as 4 year but scholarships awarded after a player makes it to campus as year to year. If you offer a recruit a scholly it is 4 year. If you offer an existing player on your roster it is year to year.
I don't see any issue with offering Lard even if he is a qualifying risk. Prohm might otherwise save one for a mid year transfer anyway so might as well take a shot on a top 150 player. Of course you would have to take into account that he might be a risk to stay eligible once he does make it on campus as well.
Yeah the question is how. My guess is they actually awarded it to him prior to august 1st then as that is when the new rule wenot into effect. Also since this isn't an ncaa rule just a power 5 agreement (so a conference rule) hard to see what the exact details are. It was reported that their were various exceptions but all for non-performance related issues. Maybe they had a stipulation for transfers or people awarded scholarship mid year like this.Prohm was asked if Ashton had a 1 or 2 year scholarship. He said they would re-evaluate the situation in April. I think that answers the question otherwise he would have said it was a 2 year deal.

Self-awareness is something to be proud of.Yep my opinion is spazzing. Exactly.
Is Lard a done deal? Maybe I missed the article because of all the football stuff?
