Not exactly sure.
Seriously, folks. He will play football if he gets a good opportunity. If you think he will play baseball, (only chance I can see is if he somehow gets a huge guaranteed contract) why would he have came back to play college football. He would have spent the year getting paid and burning up one of the years he would have needed to spend in the minors.

Baseball will always be there as a fall back. Try the NFL, if it doesn't work out retire and move back to baseball.

Problem is, there is the real possibility of getting hurt playing football and being unable to play baseball either. As Cyclonepride said, he'd be better off playing baseball. Would it be worth playing 4 years of football at $4 million a year and then have to retire from an injury, when you could play 15 years of baseball at $3 million a year?

If he was a lock to make it to the majors then sure. Keep in mind though that this is a guy hit .296 in college. Not saying that really means anything for his MLB production, but .296 is a hell of a lot different than winning the Heisman in football. He’d be taking a pretty big risk throwing away guaranteed football money for baseball money that is no sure thing

Look at Kris Bryant, he was Rookie of the Year and MVP in back to back years and hit arbitration for $12.something Million this year. If Murray is just about the money, he'd take his guaranteed check, play out his Rookie contract and then head to the MLB.

And KB was in the minors for two years before that. He's played baseball for 6 years, 4 in the Majors, and just now hit the big contract. Whereas Kyler could get drafted in the first round and get a big contract right away. Even if he isn't a superstar, if he stays healthy he could make good money as a backup after his rookie contract.

Bryant is on track to make over $200 million playing baseball, and his brain will not be scrambled with CTE when he is finished playing, with shot knees that have to be replaced.

People are correct that its not a sure thing that Murray will ever make the major leagues in baseball, but its also not a sure thing that he will ever be a starting QB in the NFL.

In the NFL its not until the second contract that most make the huge money, whichever sport he decides he will do very well for himself. But if he was my son, it would be baseball without a second thought.

Exactly. How many of the top 10 picks in the 2016 MLB draft can you name off the top of your head? I looked and I didn't recognize any of them. Most of them are still in the minors and who knows if they will ever make it.

MLB draft picks bust all the time and outside of the one time signing bonus, there is no big money until they make it to the majors, prove themselves, get past arbitration, AND sign their big deal.

I think he should go with the sport that he loves and that he's fully committed to. Hopefully that's the decision he makes.

True but being a top 20 pick in the NFL is not a sure thing either for a QB. Last year there were five QB's taken in the first round, Mayfield looks very good in Cleveland, Allen has looked OK at best in Buffalo, but Rosen has struggled in Arizona and kid that went the Jets has been off and on. Jackson at Baltimore took them to the playoffs, but his throwing left a lot to be desired. I remember the Payton Manning vs Ryan Leaf debates, many thought Leaf would be a great NFL QB, how did that turn out. For every 1st round QB chosen, the numbers show about half go on to be a starting quarterback, the rest are backups.

Every single one of those QBs will make more money off of their first contract than Murray will off of his first MLB deal, though. Hell Ryan Leaf, one of the all time busts, made more money off of his Rookie contract than Murray is currently slotted to earn in the MLB.

No two ways about it, the NFL pays its first round picks better than MLB. If KM's a first round pick, he'll be guaranteed a contract bigger than the one he signed with Oakland. That's why the MLB changed the rules to allow Oakland to offer him more. They know they can't compete with upfront money. The 32nd pick in the NFL, last year, got over 9million guaranteed. So far with Oakland, KM is only guaranteed $4.6 million.

Beyond that, it's all a gamble. There's no guarantee at all that he'd ever get the chance to be a 15 year baseball player. He very easily could wash out. Just like there's no guarantee that he'd ever get a second contract in the NFL, either.

Your forgot get drilled in the head so many times you develop brain injuries and can't remember crap when your older and barely walk because you have been hit so many times.

I'll this nicely. I need you to stop making good points.
@3TrueFans is right about the money. I read some good breakdowns on that last night, but the body, yeah, you don't get another one just yet.

So post something dumb, please.

Leaf's deal was before the NFL started slotting also, no matter what sport Murray picks he is going to make millions. But in one we know he is going to walk away healthy, that can not be said for playing in the NFL.
The last study I saw about CTE, said they had tested 60 brains for the disease from former NFL players, 59 of them had the disease, or were showing signs of it.

Its his choice, he seems to like football more and that is the way he will most likely go, but for his long term health, baseball would be the better choice, in my opinion.

Good for him. I've enjoyed the debate I've heard on the radio and on websites. I do think the upside is with football for sure in terms of salary/prestige. Heck, he probably COULD go back to baseball in a couple years if it doesn't work out. I'm sure he'll have to pay some money back, etc.

I do get the argument that this is rough on his body, etc....but like others have said, he also could be buried in AA/AAA baseball and not get a second contact worth a darn.

Agree, if he goes say Top 15 in NFL Draft will get a much bigger guarantee than the $4.6 he would have gotten from the A's. Also those minor league bus rides aren't much damn fun either.

Kyler Murray is tired of hearing people say he chose baseball because he can't play in the NFL
