I have a few of the Pampered Chef FORGED knives and ablsolutley love them. They are the best knives I've ever had. You are getting alot of good advice, but I wouldn't buy another set until you've seen the Pampered Chef FORGED knives. At 60% off the retail price, your cost comes way down and I know you'll be happy.
I'm wondering why you all-capped the word "forged". Are you implying Pampered Chef knives are "fake"? Or is it they are allegedly special by being "forged".
Knives are either milled or forged. Even forged knives are then milled to final form. I think those bubbas in Solingen (either Forschner or Wusthof) are pretty sharp at making a knife. (pun intended:yes
The problem I have with Pampered Chef, is their prices are usually stupid high. I have a few of their things, and for the price, I could've got similar quality for less money.
And a +1 to knowing how to sharpen a knife. Notice how our 21 year old paring knife has quit being convex and is now leading toward concave. That is one well-used, sharp little cutter, right there. And it STILL doesn't need reprofiling.
