Ok this is beat to death on the internet but which I have looked at, but I want some personal experiences from Cyclone nation, because we are a straight unbiased group....

Im not looking to get into an upper end tablet as i wont use it to its full extent.

I will be using it as an MP3 player at work, an email account, video streaming, and a browser.

I would go Kindle all the way but no expandable memory like the Nook Tab. At home the Cloud will be useful, but at work I cant use the Cloud so I need some memory.

Any personal experiences? and no a ipad is not in the works for me $$$.

I've never used either. But think about this: Amazon customer experience or Barns and Noble? Should be Amazon hands down.

Plus they have 18million songs on tap, alot like iTunes, and you can transfer them to your iTunes accounts.

Im not looking to store all my music, just enough to get me through a day of what I would like to listen to.

I just bought a fire and absolutely love it! Think of the Kindle Fire as an economical iPad. Yeah, the upgradable memory is replaced with cloud access, but I guess that's not a big deal to me. There are apps galore on the fire and well worth the purchase.

The Color Nook is cheaper, as I have seen it for as little as $130 occasionally.

I was planning on waiting for the new version of the iPad to come out, but then Walmart had a deal on the Fire for $150 ($199 for the Fire and a $50 walmart gift card). I figured for that price, even if I didnt like it, it wouldnt be a big deal.

Any idea whether this is still going on? Didnt see it online.

I know the Nook Tab was going for $199 ebay special right now.

I have a Nook color, and it is very easy to use, fast, books download with no problems, and is very clear. I don't think you could go wrong with either though.

If you have limited access to the cloud, the fact that the Tablet has twice as much internal memory, plus an SD slot, is kind of a big deal.

I received a Kindle for Christmas, and I really like it. It's extremely portable, and apps are based off the Android apps, just modified a bit. Can't really go wrong with that. If you have access to a wireless connection at all, it's really nice to have radio and whatnot there for while you're at work. Size is nice, as it's smaller than an iPad, and fits into a lot more areas that they wouldn't. And as far as memory, I haven't really run into any issues with how much space is available on the unit, as anything I need before I travel, I just download onto the device and have it readily available.

I have the Nook Tablet and so far I like it. I did have an issue with it and it was nice to go into a store to get it solved. For the extra $50 it has more memory and the SD slot. Neither one is an Ipad, but no where near the price

When the iPad 3 is announced in a couple weeks, the iPad 2 will drop in price. Also there is talk of an 8 inch lower priced iPad. Watch a couple weeks before doing any thing.

I own the fire and am completely happy with it. I have probably 100 songs directly on it and another 400 in the cloud. I haven't run into any issues with memory myself. I debated a long time on what to buy and what it came down to me was the convenience of the amazon eco-system: Music, Movies, Books, Everything. Just the convenience factor of it all. No matter which one you get, i'm sure you will love it.

My son has a Kindle Fire and I have a Vizio. Both work just fine and do what they were intended to do. I like the vizio better because of the 8" vs 7" screen. It does not seem like a big deal until you try and type and that inch makes a big difference in the size of the keys.

In the immeidiate family:
3 Kindle Fires
1 Nook
1 IPad2

Whiile it has some limitations for price vs options Fire wins hands down.

I would not trade our ipad 2 for any other -- no debate in this house. To each their own.
