If Pollard wants to leave because I don't like the new logo, he needs to lighten up a bit.

I didn't say Cy was leaving, I just said with the exception of the undergrad in the Costume, cy is pretty much ghandi.

Cy's gone people

Nope, you already said he's left the building

And not just walking around in costume - the logo's still going to be around, just not on the helmets, uniforms, etc. Read the linked thread (an e-mail I wrote to JP)

You know what scares me...The current generation. Wow, the two biggest sites for 20 somethings and it is the biggest mess on the internet.

[rant]

Fixed that for you. I still have no idea what the hell is wrong with both my and the younger generation. It's like someone poured liquid stupidity into the gene pool. We're being entertained to death and have lost any idea of what's really important.

Case in point, as one of my roommates pointed out to me:

"What the f*$k is wrong with people. Alberto Gonzales, the g*****n attorney general, just resigned a couple of hours ago. Top story on CNN:
'Michael Vick says he's sorry'"

I don't remember when it was when I lost all hope in the future. Oh, wait, yes I do:

5th-graders accused of sex in school - Crime & Punishment - MSNBC.com
Deadly $2 heroin targets teens - CNN.com

Whatever happened to accountability?

In any case, I miss the old Facebook. They ruined it when they started opening it up to high school students/everyone and turned it into MySpace II. It was so nice when you were guaranteed that everyone on the site at least had a college education.

[/rant]

I'm p***ed off now, I need a Shiner. :arghh:

Go State.

I remember every coach back to Johnny Majors. I love the Cy in the cyClone emblem. It represents surviving through 20 years of crappy coaches (like the one we have now). I remember when Jim Criner wanted to change helmets to the gay yellow helmets. The helmet change didn't help. His kids were stealing golfing equipment from Veenker while the coach was doing some illegal recruiting of his own (which nearly caused ISU to get the same death penalty that SMU finally DID get ... the difference being that SMU got a national championship out of the deal and ISU didn't get a winning season). No, the Cy-clone helmet to me represents a return to at least competitiveness.

The I-STATE helmet does nothing for me except make me wonder if we're talking about Iowa, Illinois, Indiana or Idaho.

jdoggivjc - I like the compromise emblem that you use for your Avatar. I'd settle for that on the helmets...with black replacing the blue if blue is really such a problem.
Of course, black would make Cy start looking like Herky the Turkey.

I wouldn't do that on helmets - it's even busier than the whirlybird ISU...

I love your avatar, but it is busy as HELL and prolly would not be good on a helmet...HOWEVER, It would be a great as a BIG logo right on the 50 yard line. eh? eh? anybody feel me on that? We also need to change the endzones too. I root for checkered cardinal and gold.

I'm glad the whirlybird is gone...new logo looks great. I like the throwbacks, but the yellow helmet looked bad with a red home jersey. Looked great on away. That's why LSU wears white at home, and not the blue. I believe walking will stay and grow in popularity, but whirlybird is going going gone. If you really like it, stock up on discount stuff now. You'll have plenty for years to come!

For the millionth and one time, the whirlybird is not gone -other than off the uniforms- and we're not going back to a walking Cy logo... I e-mailed JP about this and he said that the whirlybird's not going anywhere...

If the whrirlybird is being removed from uniforms, the football field & the basketball court. Where will we see it? Some clothing...that might be about it. I would guess that all Athletic Department letterhead will change to I-State, JP said during the introduction that the logo will be used in recruiting to build more brand recognition.

I really don't have a preference regarding the change vs: keeping what we have. But, since we're changing, I hope we go all the way and completely eliminate the whirlybird logos. A major reason for change was due to having too many logo variations which caused confusion and lowered brand recognition.

My preference: I-State everywhere, but keep the actual mascot of Cy at the games/events, etc.

I would have to agree with most everyone and the athletic dept. We need to keep Cy off the helmets or after this year. I love Cy, but not good clothing or helmets. I can see different if we had a great history with that logo, but we haven't. Also if the logo was so great, Pollard wouldn't have changed it and if he even brought up the issue everyone would be harassing him about it. The logo was obviously something that needed to be changed otherwise none of this would have happened.

What I think is funny.....

You know some of the people that created the petition read this board and could not wait to see posters come out and support what they were doing, so they could feel cool, but it has been just the opposite so they have not siad a word. I am a little surprised they have not come out to defend themselves...but that just proves how sophmoric they , and the petition, are.
