They did a brief close up of the sod on the NW hillside.... Wow it looks rough up close. They better start watering in a serious way soon.
Wouldn’t it take considerably more water too given the slope?

They’re currently pouring the second main north-south walkway imthe Plaza.

You know, for the next twenty or thirty years or more, some of you will be able to tell your kids and grandkids as you walk into the stadium that you saw that concrete being poured.
Get out there quick and put your hand in it!

No doubt that the lots need updating... I'm sure that won't be too far down the road now.

They had to retouch this spot, and I keep waiting for someone to go back and finish it before it hardens. Am I OCD?

Edit: Someone went over it, but with adifferent tool than before. It still stands out. (The app won’t let me add a photo)

I see they are not using rebar here..... is this because of the thickness of the slab being poured? Note that I am not much "in the know" when it comes to concrete.

One other observation I had from yesterday. The construction traffic, staging area and storage area has pretty much turned C6 into a gravel lot. Of course, driving tent stakes will no longer be a problem there, but I imagine they will have to do some pretty serious repaving there so the high donors are pleased!
Maybe they will patch a few spots here and there but other than that I wouldn't count on much. Not that they ever have but I don't think those lots will get much repair until they are torn out for the entertainment district.

Any possibility that it looks so bad at the bottom due to the slope and that it is actually too wet down there?

The problem started last week because of the hot weather. My post below from last Friday addresses some of this:
I agree. I did some research on sod and found that installing it in above 90 degree weather can be problematic. Look at the sod in these pictures from Tuesday to Thursday.

Thursday:

It’s definitely yellowed (especially the lower half). I also spotted these 5 guys inspecting and lifting up segments of the sod yesterday:

Finally, they were watering the sod at noon today (notice the wet arcs on the concrete guardrail):

That’s the first I’ve seen them water in the middle of the day; possibly a remedial step to save/lessen the damage to the sod? I hope so. It needs to be ready for all those happy butts come this fall!

Edit: and they're watering again at 5 pm. And at 8 pm.

The grass at the bottom looks the wosrt because it had to lay there all day in the hot sun until they finished (and then could water it).

After their inspection on Thursday, they did additional watering at noon on Friday and Saturday.

Hopefully with the cooler weather it may bounce back, but they may have to replace some of the sod in the lower bowl.

Watch closely. It's about to disappear.

Okay, so apparently I was blind. Now I see, “crenellations” of the retaining wall are part of a theme.

Thanks so much for these photos!

I think I saw renderings showing some type of pole (flag pole?) embellishing every other "crenellation" (like that description!). These have yet to be installed as a finishing touch.

That “crenellation” is also part of the lower level north and east sides of the SPC. The “slits” are windows.

That's part of it. A thick slab, on compacted base, in an area that's had weight on it for years and won't have to much weight on it in terms of loading. Not much worry about settlement or movement there.

They sure skimped out on the curing compound around the plaza. Looks like they sprayed just enough so they could say they did it.
