Howard is one of the best post players in the league but he's a very selfish and immature player still. I'm not sure I'd really want to mortgage my franchise's future on a guy that seems more concerned about himself than his team. He seems very selective in where he wants to go and some of the places I'm not really sure if he got traded there he'd put them into contention as his next contract alone is pretty much going to put any team in a position they will not have enough cap room to sign good players to put around him without doing an overhaul on the roster

Howard makes Lebron look like a Saint.

Immature? Probably. Selfish? No.
He could have been a free agent this year but decided to give the Magic one last chance to keep him. Very unselfish move.

LOL it was completely selfish. He only did it because of the extremely negative public reaction over how he handled the situation. This could not have played out worse for Howard, he's sabotaged the Magic for two years in a row now, got one of the top ten coaches in the league and he still doesn't even know what the **** he wants to do. He's like a teenage girl. LeBron might not have handled announcing his move to Miami in the best fashion but at least he made a quick decision.

Brooklyn Nets agree to trade with Atlanta Hawks for Joe Johnson, sources say - ESPN New York

Nets and Hawks have agreed to terms that moves Joe Johnson to Brooklyn. The whole deal is contingent on Derron Williams resigning.
Looks like the Hawks got next to nothing in the trade.
Nets receive:
Joe Johnson
Hawks receive:
Jordan Farmar
Johan Petro
Anthony Marrow
Jordan Williams
DeShawn Stevenson
Houston's 2013 1st round pick (lottery protected)

Hawks are back to the cellar. Didn't even manage to get Marshon Brooks.

Takes Nets out of the D12 running.
Who gets him now?
Houston, Dallas, Chicago:yes: ?????

Danny Ferry might have just won the exec of the year with the two moves he made this week.

He gave Utah Marvin Williams for Devin Harris and his expiring contract. Then to get someone to take this absolute albatross of a contract, WOW!!!:swoon:

They now have cap room to go after howard, even though it might be a bit close to all of his illegitimate children he ignores for comfort. But I see them looking VERY closely at CP3 in the off season. IF they can get those two, to go with Horford, because I think they have to trade Smith because he has value, ATL might be the team to challenge the heatles in the East.

I think it is fairly obvious that the nets are working under the assumption that wannabe Shawn Kemp, Howard, will play out the option and split.

Eventually the lakers will give them Bynum and his broken knees and maturity level of an infant, and the Magic will say thank you, and take him.

The mavs have NOTHING to trade. Cuban blew that championship team up and now he has nothing to offer. Odom would have been at least somewhat valuable here, and they let him go.

The bulls are in as bad of shape with the salary cap as the lakers, mavs, or nets are.

There is no way, with DRose out for most of the season, that they will part with Gibson, Deng, and whoever (not that the Magic would want them anyway)this season... LOL at signing Carlos Boozer after striking out with everyone else...

chicago does not have the money. Sorry Nets because D-Will and Dwight are going to Dallas. Why does everyone think Joe Johnson is this great player?

Noone thinks that JJ is a great player.

He is a good player that used a stint with Steve Nash to get an outrageous contract from a team trying to generate fan interest. Then, he could have opted out a couple years ago, but took the money to stay in the ATL. Showing that it isn't about winning at all.

Other than the contract, which is really bad, and was a terrible move by the hawks, the fact that he has chosen to get paid over winning is the other red flag about this guy.

The Bulls can amnesty Boozer's contract and create the space. They have not used their amnesty clause yet. Yeah, Boozer's contract is out of control. 15million next year, 15.3 million the year after that and then 16.8 million in his final year! Amnesty that bastard.

Wonder how that would work cap-wise. However, if Joe Johnson is your third-piece as part of a power trio, you're probably going to be pretty competitive and also very marketable in your new Brooklyn home.

Same thing I was wondering, that would give them only 4 players signed, with the smallest contract being Wallace at 4 years for 40 million. Not sure who else they would be able to sign unless Mikhail Prokhorov is going to be paying a huge tax.

I'm sure that crazy Russian bastard pays more for jet-skis every year than he would on that tax, but they are going to buck the same issues Miami did trying to acquire adequate depth and role players. That being said, the make-up of their "Big 3" would be, although maybe not as talented, a lot more logical that James/Wade/Bosh.

It begs the question how does a team decide to give the guy a max contract...yet can pull such a move to get rid of that blown deal so fast? I guess everyone can make a mistake.

Maybe they had some front office changes.

If I somehow knew Howard would take the Bulls to a title I imagine I'd be thrilled if they could get him.

But man, he is an arrogant DB. He's more arrogant than the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants down in Miami, he's just much worse at getting attention for it. If we ended up with Howard and not improving I imagine grow to dislike him even more.

The thing with Boozer is at the time they had enough cap space for TWO max guys, they needed inside scoring, and when Bosh was out Boozer really was as good of an option as anybody else. It could definitely be time to get rid of him and I'm sure the amnesty is on the table, but he's filled that gap the past few years as good as anyone else they could have signed. They'd have won less games if they had just sat on that cap space.
