No but early in the season when the sample size is small, h2h is a better way of determining something rather than looking at efficiency metrics. At some point, the game is played on the court and not an algorithm.

At the time ISU had a better record, better SOS and smoked both of them. But Iowa beat Western Michigan by 1000 points, so KenPom loved them.

I guess in this day and age of metrics it doesn't necessarily mean they are better.

I have no idea if that’s true but I knew several hawk fans who lived in maple with me back in the day and they were some of the oddest ducks I met in college. Somewhat tolerable in small chunks but completely off the reservation.
