Yeah Prohm brought in his own guys too but since he had Fred's guys he doesn't get credit for those wins just like Brands shouldn't.

Brands with just his own guys has one Big Ten championship this decade

But Brands raised the standard with his own guys. Prohm merely held serve with Hoiberg players and since has regressed.

Definitely a bad year but it seems like they all learned from it.

Leave it to you to try and defend the job Prohm is doing at ISU.
Jeez man you're acting like Prohm is the worst coach of all time lol. He's taken a team farther at Iowa State than any coach at Iowa has taken their team since 1999.

Prohm isn't perfect. He has his flaws. But he's a great recruiter, puts guys into the NBA, and is a very nice guy, which are the complete opposite qualities of the coach currently residing in Iowa City.

We went through this, he has Fred to thank for almost everything he has accomplished at ISU and took less than 5 years to take the program down to the level of losing to Florida A&M at home and getting blown out in Hilton by the coach currently residing in Iowa City.

One conference championship in a decade is raising the standard for Iowa wrestling? Lol

He raised it his first four years from the previous coaching staff. Since then Cael has taken over at PSU. Thanks Pollard.

And not doing so well at ISU under Pollard's reign.

Football Winning Pct Average
Bruce Van De Velde - .528

Jamie Pollard - .380

Basketball Winning Pct Average
Bruce Van De Velde - .475

Jamie Pollard - .442

Wrestling Final National Ranking Average
Bruce Van De Velde - 9

Jamie Pollard - 18

Bruce Van De Velde was at ISU for 6 years. FB, he got McCarney's best years (didn't hire him). MBB he got Eustachy's best years (pretty sure he didn't hire him either) and botched his firing and then hired Morgan. Wrestling, sorry, but most people don't care. BVDV made pretty much zero facilities improvements in the 6 years he was at ISU and had to cut baseball (probably more Gene Smith's fault).

Pollard has ISU in its best position in FB since the 70's. MBB is in a down year for sure, but he also was AD when ISU had its best 6 year stretch ever. Facilities are the best they've ever been in comparison to our peers. Fan support is the best it's ever been. He's definitely made some mistakes (Chizik, McDermott), but overall, he's done a great job. He's been here 15 years, there are bound to be some down stretches at a place like ISU where it's pretty much impossible to just reload every year. BVDV kind of caught lightning in a bottle with LE and inheriting a FB coach who the prior AD showed patience in keeping. IMO any school in the country would be happy to have an AD like Pollard. He manages a fairly tight budget extremely well, keeps good coaches for the most part, invests in facilities with good planning (and getting more bang for the buck than anyone out there), communicates and understands his fanbase.

As far as that BB winning percentage, I'm guessing that is conference games? Because otherwise, those numbers are way off.

Maybe Brands should learn to compete and recruit a little better.

It took him a little while, but I think he finally has. For the first year in a while, I feel that Iowa can compete for the title this year and should be the favorites next year barring any major injuries.

Steve's going to have two down years in his 5 years at Iowa State, while still accomplishing more and putting more of his players into the NBA than a coach that has been somewhere twice as long as him.

Take out Steve's first two years with Iowa State, and he has still put more guys into the NBA and is going to put in a lottery pick this year.

Basically you're saying Brands = Prohm

Not even a close comparison. Brands took over a program that had not won a national title in six years and by year two won one and then the next two for three in a row. Since then he has basically done about the same job as his predecessor, but I think another uptick is coming soon.

Prohm took over a program and held serve for a few years before regressing.

Big difference.
