Heard that Kohler got offered by Florida State. Is this old news?

I posted a couple weeks ago that FSU was interested and an offer could be on the way. That being said, I still think he goes to ISU.

I think where ever James goes there will have to be good fishing for walleye and hunting near by.

I really think he gets more fishing in than anyone I have ever known. I am not sure he is the type of kid to get swayed by the likes of FSU.

Getting kids like Kohler and Scherff, is a huge step in rebuilding our team.
I played against Scherff in baseball last night. I swear that kid adds an inch and 20 lbs. every time i see him, he's huge.

Yeah, they're a big time Clone family. I will never forget how classy it was back in the '04 Independence Bowl when Coach Mac put Andy in for the final play (victory formation) because Andy's senior year had been ended because of a torn ACL. It's a good thing it was a clean snap and no fumble because I doubt if Andy could have made the play with his knee being 2 months off of surgery. Very classy move by Coach Mac though.

It's too bad Andy had the knee injuries. He was a hell of an athlete in high school. I think he high jumped 6'10". He could have gotten some playing time as a walk-on.

Andy did play, in fact scored a touchdown his junior year on a punt block. I think he high-jumped 7' for ISU where he was on scholarship before moving to football and blew out a knee in both of his Junior and Senior year. He got in the Independence Bowl for the final play as the safety back in the Victory Formation.

I'm sure James would like to go to Stanford, Northwestern or ISU. All for obvious reasons, I haven't talked to his Dad since last season.

One can hope we see some of that this season.

Anything new on his situation? Please tell me something positive. I want CPR to sign at least one outstanding instate recruit (especially one in our back yard).

After talking with family members, I can say that it's down to three - ISU, Stanford, and Northwestern. He did love his visit to KU, though - he said Mangino was a riot.

He will be playing football only - baseball is off the table.

One parent likes Stanford, one likes NW - lots of family and extended family pushing for ISU.

Am I wrong in thinking his dad played at ISU?? If that is the case why in the world would he be pushing anyone but ISU?

His dad is a great guy - I think he just wants what's best for his son.
One thing to keep in mind - you're not going to like this - he was contacted and was told he was wanted by both of those schools long before Chizik even bothered to pick up the phone.
He has a relationship with Harbaugh and especially Fitzgerald that go much further back than with anyone from Iowa State.
Rhoads is digging out of a deep ditch - example A is the recruiting of James Kohler.

Agreed. But there is no doubt in my mind that he (Rhoads is pushing hard for Kohler. You would think his family would realize that as worthless as Chiz may have been in his recruitment, Chiz is no longer here, and they should judge Rhoads for how he has treated them, not on how Gene treated them.
