ISU to Big 10 | Welcome

In a post started by timh4isu, yesterday, a bunch of reasons were posted as to why ISU should be considered for the Big 10. Within that post, there was a call for more organization in such an effort like there was in the mascot voting a few years ago.

CR.com member TravISU answered that call and created ISU to Big 10 | Welcome based on the info posted in that thread(not all posts are credited, yet, due to the late night - they will be soon) Now the challenge is to you to come up with other logical reasons and post them here (not flames). We'll get them transfered to the public site but want this community or other Cyclone online communities to source them.

No need to post about how this maybe too late or meaningless (we understand that) or that TV sets are the only possible criterion (we're looking past that to make a case).

Feel free to start with these topics
*AAU membership
*Stated criteria from the Big 10
*Wrestling's fit & the loss to that sport if ISU has to cut budget by going to a smaller conference.

This may be lemondae, but we are far better off in the MWC or some other small conference trying to become the next Boise St. versus staying in the Big 12 or lucking into the Big 10 and being a consistent doormat with an occaissional suprise year.

Has anyone considered what happens to ISU if we're encircled by UNL, Mizz, UI and Minn and we're the only ones not in the CIC? If that strengthens UNL and Mizz that seem to be bad for ISU. A move anywhere but the B10 seem worrisome if UNL and Mizz end up in the B10.

Short of ransom or a few key assassinations, we are not getting into the Big 10. :(

Past precedent. Va Tech worked out well for the ACC

Iowa would have to be in the same position that Virginia was - being the swing vote on expansion going forward in the Big 10. By all indications Iowa will not be the swing vote, so no amount of political pressure on Sally Mason or on the rest of the Big 10 to invite ISU will cause the Big 10 to change their mind. About the only hope for ISU in this regard is if there is more interest in ISU by the Big 10 than they are publicly letting on.

The Hy Vee series shows we can compete against members on the Big Ten Network.

Our logo fits in with their facination of letters:jimlad:

Seriously, we are a member of the AAU, have a full stadium for football pretty much every game, and we can compete against most of the teams in that conference in any sport.

Some of you people disgust me. We're at probably the most important crossroads ever for Iowa State athletics, and you feel the nerve to criticize or run down someone being proactive in doing SOMETHING rather than just lying down and accepting our fate as it is.
