Re: ISU vs Iowa

I wouldn't bet a penny on us beating Iowa in either wrestling or men's basketball. Id put the basketball line at Iowa -4.5.

Good thing for women's basketball.

hard to say until after the UNI game. I think the Hawaii game was a hard one to judge based on the time it was played. If we get beat at UNI, Iowa will beat us as well, I'm guessing.

Re: ISU vs Iowa

Iowa is not very good in WBB. I don't think it'll be a blow out, but I would not put a penny on Iowa.

Southernhawk...

Have you watched the Wahlin girl from Crookston, Minnesota play yet...? Very highly recruited by both schools and was surprised she did not choose Bill.....?

Point gaurd that can penetrate and score, has a great outside shot, but is only around 5'7" tall.......

Re: ISU vs Iowa

I watched Iowa play Kansas...and Iowa looked HORRIBLE. Like, really really. Granted, Kansas wasn't playing particularly well either, but it was bad. I think we'd be 9 or 10 point overs.

and if so, I'd put money on us outnumbering hawkeye fans! :)

FWIW, attendance in Carver two years ago was 5865 http://www.cyclones.com/ViewArticle.dbml?SPSID=46667&SPID=4253&DB_OEM_ID=10700&ATCLID=699005

The only game I've actually been able to watch was the KU game a few weeks ago. She had a few good plays in that game, but right now Iowa is a 2 player show with Skouby and Ausdemore.

Wahlin is behind the Senior Kristi Smith, and I'd expect it to remain that way for the rest of the season, due to the fact that Smith has been the 3rd most reliable player on the team.

But right now, this team isn't playing up to their potential. They returned 3 key players from last year's team, with Hamlin (the fourth) putting in some good minutes last year. Unfortunately, they're turning the ball over about the same number of times as they score field goals. Dunno if that's coaching (probably) or something else, but that's where this team is at right now.

Re: ISU vs Iowa

Bill Fennelly said at a coach talk lunch today that with the Iowa team's w-l record and their seniors, they will be ready to play. However, ISU will bring lots of fans, a decent record, and seniors of our own, and the Iowa team won't like that. (not quoting him.)

Re: ISU vs Iowa

Iowa has lost 3 games to teams with a combined 16-1 record and now face Duke and ISU. They could easily be 4-5 without a bad loss due to their schedule. I look for ISU to win by 15...any homecourt advantage will be lost due to the amount of ISU fans making the trek (and a few left over from Saturday night's wrestling meet) and I don't see this ISU team losing many games they shouldn't this season with the seniors they have.

Re: ISU vs Iowa

I don't read too much into Iowa's record - their losses are to good teams. I would be more concerned about our play. ISU has always been better than the sum of its parts because of the team play taught by BF. The number of players to work with may have slowed development this year. This week off is likely coming at an ideal time and I expect to see the machine running smoothly by Sunday - a comfortable, but not an easy, win.

Re: ISU vs Iowa

It will be a very close ISU win. Very close. We are taking 5 Cyclones and 1 Hawk to the game.
