We don’t know how he apprehended her yet but I’m surprised no one on the course heard any screams. Get that homeless “camp” the hell out of there.

Disbanding the homeless camps does nothing to solve problems they have. They used to be heavily concentrated in Brookside Park when I was in school I guess they moved further south.

I never even went into brookside park while I was in college. So close and some place I never hit.

They are extending Grand Ave right through that area aren't they? Hopefully that helps clean up that area of the path in the future.

Although I would like to say I agree I am not sure how much that helps. History shows they don't really leave. They either end up going back to the same place or find a new place in town. Rarely do they leave town entirely.

There used to also be an area by South River Valley Park.

Maybe we should just send them to Chicago on trains. I hear that's how people get to Iowa.

Not for nothing, but this guy appears to be from Iowa. (Based in some of thd previous police reports. I could be wrong.) He didn’t get shipped in from anywhere. He isn’t Chicago’s problem or California’s problem. He’s OUR problem. A talented, smart, and nice woman from Spain was murdered by someone from our state.

It was a jab at a stupid thing a poster has said on CF before, nothing more.

Really sad to hear this. Irony of our society, that they were same age and it ended this way.

Ames has long had a transient homeless population. In 92 when I waited tables I had a whole bunch of cash that in my place on the weekend until the bank opened on Monday. Needless to say, my place was broken into and my cash taken, and the Ames police said they knew who did it because they arrested a couple homeless men who said there were guys flashing hundreds of dollars in ones and fives at the camp, but had since jumped the rails. They said they were known to follow food servers and strippers because we had lots of cash at the time, and that I should not walk home after work anymore. That was 1992. Needless to say, I started dropping overnight deposits at the bank and getting rides home.

Not sure your years, but mid/late 90s they were spread out all along Squaw Creek from South 4th all the way to Duff.

This will get this sent to the cave but I don't care--the language around this will be very different and Tweemp probably won't bat an eye.
