So I guess the Iowa band members that have been all over social media all week are saying Pollard lied today about the Iowa band taking an exit they were told not to.

They are saying that ISU just yelled at them to leave immediately, so they just took the shortest route.

I call BS on that. ISU was probably yelling at them to get off the field, but JP and the Police Chief both say the Iowa band was told to use the East exit, just like the ISU band did.

I sure believe them over some band students at Iowa with an axe to grind.
Of course they are, they’re guilty of assault and looking for any way to pass blame.

Would this count as an assault?
Broken ribs for sure.

Just listened to the whole press conference. Holy **** Prez, Chief, and AD are all practically begging on their knees to have anyone come forward of something more happened. Pretty astonishing that Iowa is either withholding that or just trying to set a narrative of lies. Also pretty telling that this is the first year anyone complained from Iowa's marching band but I heard about it for the last 10 years from ISU's marching band.

One final thing before I go full on rant. Whatever press was there that was trying to get a sound bite is what's wrong with journalism today. Trying to get Wintersteen or Pollard to say Ames/Iowa State has a crowd control problem or we have a fan problem is just disgusting. Or asking Wintersteen if she had been subjected to the same behavior is trying to stir the pot so much more. They're trying to make it a national story by saying all fans and all sports at every levels has a problem and they don't know why they're failing as news organizations. You're a ******* reporter in Iowa. 3 million people (population of Iowa) MAX care about you and I'm sure it's way less. Get over yourselves and stay in your lane.

There were like 3 good questions in all that, what we're the 5 incidents, is the band going to Iowa city/are they allowed at JTS, and why does the CyHawk need to keep going. Everything else was clickbait outrage culture ********.

Yeah, someone yells at you to leave immediately and you throw into formation playing your fight song, sousaphones violently swinging, and plow into unaware fans leaving the stadium at the most congested gate...seems like a reasonable response to that. I’m totally on their side now! Waytogo, goodjob!

OMG!! What a complete tool.

That little impromptu question and answer with reporters was embarrassing. Only made him look worse. A lot worse.

He basically admits they have nothing to stand on whatsoever.... but they stand by the students. Okay buddy.... that's fine...... but if you have nothing to report.... then the story is over.... move on. You've already embarrassed yourself and your university enough already.

Whah-whah. “They’ve gone through a difficult time...and until there is concrete evidence, we’re going to continue to support the little snowflakes.”

Hey Barta...next year, put on an ISU shirt and walk around and through Kinnick. Then, roll out your press release lackeys.

I finally had a chance to watch the ENTIRE presser. I'm even more upset than I was earlier in the day when I had only caught about 5 minutes of it. Randy P is AWFUL (I know, this isn't news to any of you). He is part of the problem with today's media. Too many reporters, nowadays, go into a story with their minds made up in regards to how they want to spin it. That's just what Randy did with his follow-up story of the press conference. JP and WW both redirected his horrid questioning to the facts - to the reality of the situation. Yet, he wants to totally ignore the factual reality and make up a narrative that supports imagined victims (at least according to the evidence so far) and paints ISU as a "dangerous" place. Can we ship him off to Houston so he can live with Dana Holgorson for a while?!

This was actually a good question as Pollard had given some indication that she'd received poor treatment in Iowa city in the past.

But she was smart and didn't take the bait right now, because she's smart enough to know the local media would run with the "even the university presidents arent safe in this series, we've gotta cancel it" narrative

**** those two.

One wannabe hipster who thinks he's too good for Ames, and one old cranky **** who's just holding on for the paycheck.

Does this remind you of anything else?!?!? Can you say Judge Kavanaugh?
Verdict first......trial later? Show me a man.....I'll find the crime? Yeah.......just like that. And those are the tactics the UofIdiots and the Des Moines Red Star have been using.

Just got to watch the whole thing AWESOME job by Wintersteen, Pollard, and Chief of Police. Loved the 29 minute mark when Jamie steps in to own Randy when Wendy was being way to nice to Randy, I don't think she usually has to answer questions from people who are that dense and set on pushing an agenda. Unluckily it seems at minute 34 the police chief hints that we shouldn't chant **** Iowa at the BB game this winter.

That was 40 minutes of setting the record straight and defending ISU, it's fans, and the city of Ames.

What a dumbass band to go not just through the wrong gate but to try to march into a crowd and create a problem. They wanted to create a problem and they did, but it seems that it has came back to bite them in the ass when the truth comes out.

I don't disagree with that. They should never have gone out that exit. They never should have played their fight song, there are a lot of things they should not have done. That was the fault of leadership or whoever was in the front. That said, if you're in the middle or back of the band, you watch out for your own and don't let anyone into the formation. Once they were committed to that path, they did the right thing in keeping themselves together.

I had no idea that marching bands don't have brakes.

This why I’m not all pumped up on “The Athletic”. They just conglomerates all of the small time hacks in to one spot and made you pay for something that you were getting for free a few months ago.

Finally got around to cancelling my subscription. Got talked into it by some posters here but you are right, not much more than a collective of small town hacks and want-to-be bloggers once you get past some of their big pro sports coverage. Final straw was them continuing to publish that Scott Doucherman hawkeye hack. Guy just spews hate.

Still waiting for the U of I band director to come forward and answer the simple question, What the #### were you thinking marching into a solid mass of people, instead of an open exit? Has he come out of hiding yet?
