Being ranked above Kansas would be awesome. Of course, if they win at Hilton would it be an upset? When was the last time you heard KU beating Iowa State in basketball being an upset? We obviously need to take care of business the next 3 weeks though!

Correct. In basketball the rankings mean very little - other than bragging rights. The key is to keep winning, do well in conference and get a good seed going into the tournament. A good seed would be 1(great) to 5 (OK). Don't get hung up on what the ratings are, especially early in the season.

Ehhhh I like being able to say my team is top 10 in the country. I understand that it only matters come March, but in terms of national exposure and respect being ranked high is huge. 60+ teams make the tourney, and not all 60 are equally respected or get equal attention from analysts, fans, etc. Being ranked does a ton for image, and a great image that is respected draws in top talent, and there is no denying that. I want a top 10 team. I love how ESPN shows Iowa State highlights every time we play even when its against a cupcake, thats what being ranked does; exposure and tons of it!

KenPom gets more accurate as the season goes on. Even Mr. Pomeroy will tell you not to take much stock in it until there's a decent sampling.

It's funny how some people are making a big deal how we won a close game against a good, ranked, and rival team. Michigan State almost lost to a 2-8 team in their own backyard and Kentucky almost lost to a Cleveland State team at home a few weeks ago. We won the game and beat a good team. That definitely counts for something

Yep, beating a ranked team that is 10-2 constitutes mediocre...face palm. Thats a great win for us.

I wouldn't say great win but I would say it was a needed win. I think a lot of our fans think of ISU as the top basketball school in the state and it's tough to be that if you don't beat your instate rivals.
