The Iowa State women's basketball team (15-11, 6-9 Big 12) travels to Lawrence, Kansas to take on the Kansas Jayhawks (8-18, 2-13 Big 12) on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. Iowa State is looking for its second sweep of the Big 12 season after grabbing the first-ever sweep of West Virginia on Saturday. ISU topped Kansas 87-58 in Hilton Coliseum on Jan. 8.
Who: Iowa State at Kansas
Where: Allen Fieldhouse - Lawrence, Kansas
When: Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 7 p.m.
Projected Starting Lineup: Seanna Johnson , Jadda Buckley , Meredith Burkhall, Bridget Carleton and Emily Durr
Radio: Cyclone Radio Network/Learfield
Talent: Rich Fellingham (PxP); Lyndsey Fennelly (color)
TV: ESPN3
Talent: Josh Klingler (PxP); Brenda VanLengen (color)
The worrisome stat looking at this game is 1-7, our road record. More encouraging is 3-1, our record in the last four games including a road win at WVU. Cyclones won the first meeting 87-58 taking an early lead 18-4 in the first quarter. A slow start will only encourage the Jayhawks.
Pre-game interviews with Durr and Bowe, spoke about ISU being first or last in or out of the NCAA. What does that mean? I don't see that for our #65 NCAA RPI, but if it motivates a win, I'm good. Iowa at 16-11 is thought of as a last four in at #9 and Drake 22-4, which entered the rankings at #25 projected as a #10.
Go State!!
