Too all the haters of the civil defense siren. I'd like to point out that in the event of the actual tornado game against Colorado you cite as the reason we can't use them. We won that game and the opposing coach made mention of how intimidating it was that we brought our real mascot.
If there were an actual tornado today the new ISU alert system can and is used as a Public address system campus wide to prevent any confusion. If you haven't been around campus for a couple years you may not have known that. There are plenty of speakers and you can here it all across the tailgating lots, I know because I can hear it at my house East of Hilton. And even if there wasn't ISUALERT available... if only there were some way we could modify the speakers on the scoreboard to make some sort of public announcement that would be able to tell everyone in the area that there was an actual tornado and what to do to take cover...hmmm, no that wouldn't be possible as we'd want to save such a valuable limited resource to notify everyone when there was another Cyclone First Down. Yea, that'd never work. You guys are right, it'd just be way to confusing if every Day there was a home game before kick-off a storm siren went off. I know I drop under my seat at the Barnstormers game every time there is a touchdown. Also every time TCU scored in Houston at our last bowl game and they blew a siren Reliant Stadium went into a massive panic. As it is I just about need to change my pants every time the teams busses are escorted into the stadium by an old fire truck with a siren on it. It's all just so confusing... We should change back to the Iowa State Cardinals and play bird calls over the loud speakers when we come out of the tunnel, our current mascot is far too scary to actually use in a unique and relevant manner. Perhaps we should build a massive nest of sticks around the home bench, better yet, lets rebuild JTS to look like the birds nest in Beijing, but I suppose that would confuse all the crows in the area so we couldn't do that either. Dang everything being so confusing.
