That would be sad if Isheem Young ended up at Penn State. They dropped Young like a bad habit when he got into trouble in high school and ISU offered him a second chance when he didn't have a lot of other options. I'd like to say so much for his gratitude, but I don't know Isheem's current situation and he's provided ISU with 2 outstanding years, so I'll just wish him well I guess.
There’s “getting in trouble” and there’s armed robbery. The pressure in that state led to no choice on Isheem. We were able to pick him up sort of UTR. Now that he’s proven himself, they or others can take him back.

Meh he’s gonna make a lot of money that we won’t be able to pay him. Don’t blame him a bit.

Rule changes have consequences.

And in the short term, there's going to be a lot of kids that will earn good money. But in a decade when college sports are a shell of what they once were because only a handful of teams will be competitive, then we're going to be back to kids not being able to earn anything. Obviously, that's not Young's problem and this is still good for him. But we need to face the reality that CFB is now full on free agency without any sort of contracts. And I just don't see it surviving long. You can't have CFB with 20 teams.

And alot of people on here thought NIL WAS a good thing for college sports.

It’s the fair thing for about 1% of athletes who produce more for the school than they get.

Then pretty much every other NIL athlete is just leaching off tax payers and alumni without whom they’d have the name recognition of minor league hockey players.

Until it kills enough interest at the have nots and the whole thing implodes.

Too bad we cant just destroy the NFL and college football for a 120 team four division system with relegation and promotion.

This is such a dramatic thread. A bunch of grown men acting like a 6 year old little girl who just got her favorite toy taken away. Goodness gracious.

I see a lot of people who aren’t ostriches and a few who are.

It’s not being dramatic to astutely asses a situation. It can be delusional to ignore the realities.

The reality is some people will leave, others will join, and Iowa State football will continue.

This is just the tip of the iceberg for schools like Iowa State. Stuff like this is why some of us were upset when our Supremely Stupid Court allowed this.
I don't remember it all or how much the SSC Supremely Stupid Court had to do with this. Depressing thought but there likely is no way out of this w/o government intervention of some sort. Analize all you want, college sports will never be the same without help. Not really asking for 'same' but viable with a little bit of equity would be nice.

continue as a different new level of college football…after just tasting a sliver of success in an era with less hurdles

to act like NIl is business as usual is very irrational

what’s legal isn’t necessarily good for the idea of massive popular college football in every state and region.

The entire thing (scholarship athletics) is irrational on face value…we just enjoy it.

Doesn't matter, guy needs to gtfo out of our state if he doesn't want to be here. Cambpell is literally the only one who gave him a shot because he wants to be a criminal and this is how he repays him.
I oficially nominate this for a 2021 Clonie Worst Post of the Year award.

This generation isn't the problem. Lack of rules and or regulation might be.
The amount of money in all of this is a huge part. The NCAA could have seen this all coming. This isn't the players or Supreme Court fault, it's people that have made an insane amount of money off of athletes fault.

I would also like to point out that Isheem Young has a kid (looks like less than a year old), I know it may be common just to focus on the football side of things, especially on here but im sure, given Isheem has a girlfriend and less than year old son, there were/are other things at play here.

Also looks like gf and baby boy do not live in Iowa.

Just an FYI.
Campbell happens to get paid pretty decently, it has been a good trade for both sides.

Also quite notable that Freyler and McDonald played a LOT down the stretch of the season. Would be interested to see the snap counts with them vs King and Young. If Jordyn Morgan is the real deal (which by these transfers I assume he is) we will be just fine.

Freyler, McDonald and Morgan are a quality group.

Also locked down at CB with Johnson back, Purchase looking good and young guys like Tampa and Kyle waiting.

Wouldnt be crazy to guess Will McDonald comes back....

Just saying.

I don't think people have thought about what is going to level this all out in under 5 years. Once non-revenue sports(in particular female athletics) start the lawsuits the landscape will change FAST.

I have a feeling donations will go down because boosters will shift some of that money to players directly.
It's the fault of ADs for not advocating hard enough for football players.
