Is there a bad seat at Jack Trice?

Not a bad *reserved* seat in the entire stadium imo.

Hillside is not so great, but they're really cheap often times. I also sat at "field level" when we lost to UNI. It was a bad place to watch a game. we only stood by our seats when we had too because the goal post and the cameras and other junk was in the way.

-by the way, UNI had some hella big dudes that year. Seeing those D-linemen play was by far the best part of the game. They were like watching a big herd of cattle. It was the year before we got the new grass and they would line up on their own one yard line and just dig their cleats down into the ground for traction. That tore the **** out of the field lol

I sat "field level" for the 2008 season opener against South Dakota State. Those seats will be much better now with the scoreboard (regardless of size) being on the north end, rather than having to turn around every time you wanted to see a replay on the scoreboard in the south end.

Yea good point. But we could hardly tell what was going on sometimes with all the stuff in the way and the inability to perceive depth from the endzone angle

I sat in the 3rd row on the 50 once, I could not tell what was going on at all. I would rather sit in the first row of the balcony.

My dads seats are in the first row balcony on about the 45 yard line. By far the best seat I've had at Jack Trice.

Anything close to the field in the lower level sucks. Everything upper deck is good. Upper deck on the 50 in the first few rows is utopia.

I would sit in the first row of the upper deck between the 30s before any other place in the stadium. Second pick would be highest row of the lower deck.

For the OP, depending on taste there really isn't a bad 'seat' but as others have said hillside isn't great if watching the game is top priority.

anywhere in the upper deck is great. ive sat about 6 rows from the top, about 20 yard line and they were actually great seats

Yeah. We really built the first row a bit too low. Shouldve had a higher wall.

If we somehow came into a ******** of money, lowering the field might not be a bad idea.

Other than those first few rows, the hillsides and far lower deck corners suck.. other than that there really arent many bad seats. I know that endzone seats arent for me (due to the lack of a good view when play is at the other end of the field) but i also know there are those that love those seats.

There is always a dilemma for me whether I should try to get as close to the front of the student section as possible or go immediately for the upper deck on the side closest to the 50. It is a lot less intense in the upper deck but you can actually see the game really well. In the lower student section you can't see much but those students actually get into the game unlike a lot of the upper deckers.

I concur that DD is a great place for the game, have loved my seats there for the last two years. Also the obnoxious fan is generally my drunken alter ego "Victory Helmet Man", I make no apologies...

We sit a few rows up from you and I am pretty sure my GF spends more time watching you than the game. If you are not around to run up and down the stairs after a TD she gets worried "wheres Victory Helmet"

Top of the lower deck is probably the best spot in the student section. You get the intensity of the lower level, but its still a pretty good view.

By about half way through my junior year we quit worrying about getting in the lower level for a couple reasons. 1) you get a far better view of the game from the upper deck, and 2) you get more time to tailgate. Being as we were more concerned about being able to watch what was going on than we were about being "crazies" if you will, it worked out pretty well. Sometimes we sat lower level, sometimes upper. Just pretty much took what we could get.

Top row of the upper deck. Have been sitting there for many years and love it. If you have friends coming to the game they can buy hillsides and then come up with you.

Sat in section M with a buddy in 2009, and the guy in front of us was just a complete *****. He'd get mad at us for yelling on defensive downs and generally making noise. He almost came off like he didn't like watching football or something.

We moved to section G last year along with a few other friends and really enjoy it. There's an older gentleman who leads the section in cheers all game, and generally the crowd there is a lot more "into it". Most people stand and yell, and the folks who don't are ok with the ones who do. It was a good call, and I'm looking forward to sitting their for awhile.

Upper deck students might as well not be there. I buy hillside season tix, but end up in the upper deck most games. The students do very little other than treat it like a social event. Cell phones, mingling, generally ******* around. The only real time they get into the action is if we score or the 3rd down "THUMP, THUMP, THUMP" sound comes on. Even then it is a half-***ed enthusiasm. The pay about as much attention to the game as the grass-stained kids rolling down the hillside.

The lower level looks like they, get this, WATCH the game and understand the scoring system.

Hillsides close to the field are crap. Zero depth perception. I'm 5'7" and I find it very hard to see over people, even if they are standing a few inches below you. Plus, it never fails the 6'3" brute-of-a-man will cram his way right in front of me EVERYTIME. That is why I would like to see the current stands extended on the north hillsides to form "wings" that would allow for sitting on the top half of the hillsides, while still leaving grass on the lower section for the kids to play.

Sat front row lower level for several games. Only thing it is good for is talking **** to the visiting team. I watched most of games via replay on video board.

Used to have season tickets about 2/3 up on the upper deck at approximately 2 yards from the S. End Zone. You could see everything pretty well.

Last year for the KU game I was in the end zone about 1/3 of the way up. Couldn't see much and of course all the action was at the north end zone that game. I didn't care for it myself.

We've been in row 11, lower level for the last 3 years. We got displaced when the west suites were built (twice, long story...) We love the top of the lower level and I cringed when the ticket office called with our new assignment. I put on the renewal form to call when they were ready to assign us so I could review our options. Double the NCC donation to move up a few rows. Nope. So we took row 11 and I absolutely love it! So much more intense than having the concessions behind us and still high enough to see most action.
