Is the NCAA Tournament really on lock with these guys?

Yeah, tournament doesn’t care what you are or where you’ve been. Play well, you keep advancing, play poorly, you’re going home. There’s been dozens of teams better than this one that had an early exit, and worse teams than this one that went deep.

Especially in the current era where more 2s and 3s have been getting beat and oh yeah, the first 16/1 upset happened last year and it was a blow out.

These guys are in, might be something where they get a bit of a break and get some new energy and make a run.

Or not.

And then everything will be fine.

We're in. None of our losses are bad losses by the numbers(although fan moral might say otherwise) and we have enough good road wins to be a 7 or 8 minimum. Sucks, because we could have been so much higher up.

If it offers any consolation, the 1996-7 team was highly ranked, slipped up during the regular season and ended up a miracle layup from the Elite Eight. Let's hope something like that happens.
Yikes, a home loss to Nebraska that year too. That sucks

That team played defense.

We have two games remaining in conference play. And to be perfectly honest with you, dropping these last games look more predictable than winning them. Say we lose the first round of the Big 12 tournament, are we really expected a bid with the big dance? I don’t think so.. Thoughts?

I’d say this is dumb, even for you

I feel like this thread happens every year and then the result is people are mad when we get a seed or two higher than they think we should be in the tourney.

Especially when it could lead to a win or two, and that would make them really mad to see Iowa State win games in the dance.

Ok we are not a bubble team. Talent wise should make it past, but we have fallen in a funk. Nice post though

Really think so?

And are bubble teams the only ones who don't make it past the 1st weekend? Is that why so many people fill out brackets and tune in?

And what part of ISU's game makes you think they should get past the first weekend?

Is a funk typically a month long?

I had originally thought that playing someone who hasn’t seen us would be a benefit, regardless of the make up of that team. I’m not sure of that now.

We just can’t get out of our own way right now. The coaches you play twice a year figure stuff out pretty quickly. We have been solved. and, despite what people want to believe, aren’t so talented we can just overcome our shortcomings. And we are most definitely not, as Larry used to say, getting our game on to the court.

I hope the roster construction is different going forward, we need more lineup options, and shooting.

If we lose out, and then lose our first game in the Big 12 tourney, I think we could be in that 8-9 game, and we'd deserve it too. Probably more likely a 7 seed, but we wouldn't deserve it.
