iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy SIII

I just went through the dilemna of choosing between the 2 and it came down to what would fit in my pocket and be less likely to break in said pocket. If I was a woman with a purse, I'd denitely have the s3 or maybe wait for the Note 2, but Iphone fits in my pocket easier. I should also mention I put Otterbox Defender Cases on my phones to make them even bigger, so I can't imagine what that would look like for the s3 or Note 2. I'd have to put the Note 2 in the back of my pants like coaches do their playsheet.

I love the S3, have had it for about a month and have had zero problems. the only thing i don't like is it doesn't have FM radio which sucks during football season

There's a phone that has an FM tuner on it?

Anyone else making this decision? What's swinging it one way or the other for you?

I have a Droid X, the hot Android phone from July 2010. Now, of course, it's a fossil. It's been a decent phone but I want 4G. I've been hugely frustrated by the fact that I'm still running Android 2.3 and apparently have no hope for an update.

I have an iPad so for the simple idea of uniformity among my technology, the iPhone sounds attractive. But I've read good things about the Samsung and I've been happy with Android overall. I just worry that with all the Android phones that always flood the market that it will be abandoned in a few months. I know the Samsung is significantly larger and I plan to hit a Verizon store soon to feel them both out.

Any other pros/cons or factors that helped you make your decision would be great.

I am in about the same position, but I plan to go with the iPhone.

My first smartphone was the HTC Incredible, which is great. My first Apple computer was the iPad2. I recently bought a MacBook Pro Retina display, expensive, much more than I like to pay, but it fit my current needs well. My prior experience with Apple was mostly with the Apple II (a long time ago). I will continue to use Windows-based computers, but I am doing a lot of things in the Cloud (like file storage, wp, database). I plan to buy the iPhone in part to see how I like it - more basic user research - but also to see whether there is some advantage to the greater compatibility between the 3 devices.

Next time I might go with a Droid. We'll see. The larger screen on the Samsung is tempting, but I might appreciate the greater portability of the iPhone more (somewhat like my current phone, though the iPhone will be larger than it).

If the OP was with Sprint, I'd recommend the EVO 4G LTE. I've got one and love it. And it has FM radio...

even on tunein i can never find feeds for the game that aren't blocked out like on Iheart... how do you find them?

Buy a subscription to Cyclones.tv and the corresponding app.

If you don't have MBB tickets and want to watch most non-conference games you'll need the Cyclones.tv subscription anyway.

I chose the Galaxy Nexus, but I'd wait for a possibly new Nexus phone in November if I were going that route now. I've had iPhones and like them quite well also. I prefer the least amount of carrier garbage on my phone, and Apple is great in that aspect, Nexus is also very good there and you get the pure android experience and generally have less wait for the manufacturer/carrier to roll out new versions of Android. The segmentation of android versions really sucks to me, and is the main reason I made the choice on phones that i did.

I've had the SIII since it came out in July. It is a big phone, BUT it is super thin and doesn't seem bulky at all. The only issue I've had w/ is battery life, but I purchased an aftermarket battery for $20 and it hasn't been an issue since. The 4G is super fast and the SIII is getting Jellybean in October.

Is it better than the iphone5? I don't know, my friend's wife that has one was bragging about all the new features, that I've had on the SIII since July. Either way, I don't think you can go wrong w/ either phone. The SIII is a lot cheaper from what I've been seeing. Plus, it comes in kewl new colors now.

This is a big difference between iPhones and other devices. For whatever reason, Apple has decided that the end user is too stupid to change a battery/install an SD card/etc and has removed that functionality from its devices. I, like the OP, have a Droid X. I've replaced the original battery because the original one was starting to go. I've really got no complaints with the phone, other than I'd like 4G, but I'm due for a new phone in a month.
