where do you live? i kno that the sprint store on university in west des moines has two live ones on display to play with if you have the time ..... i personally dont mind the mogul but id rather have the keypad out instead of hidden .... just my opinion ....

You can also check out the Instinct at Best Buy. I was playing with one at the Jordan Creek store last week.

True that, $99 for everything you can do on your phone is an amazing price, to get that through AT&T you're lookin at more like $150.

The new Instinct from Sprint is a great alternative if you aren't totally sold on the iPhone or on AT&T. It's a cheaper handset and data speeds are going to be much better on Sprint's network.

Plus if you're not the worlds biggest talker, Sprint has the same plan for $69.99. You get 450 anytime mins. but still have everything else unlimited.
I use that with the new Samsung Instinct and love it :notworthy:

I'm not a big talker on my cell, so a small dollar plan is what I'd be going with. I'm just not certain with the coverage. I guess I just want a phone that can do just about anything I would need it to do...and the cool factor does't hurt.

If my company didn't have a need to always be in contact with me I would give them back their blackberry(Which they pay for) and buy one of those pay-as-you-go phones. Besides getting server pages and reading my email, I bet I may talk a total of 10 minutes a month on the actual phone. With the BB I feel like they have a chain around my neck 24hrs a day.

I guess a plus is that I can read CF on it's 1" screen.:)

I've heard it's not that easy when transferring the data to an iPhone. All I need to transfer are my contacts, I don't have but 2 or 3 photos on my current phone and don't care about transferring them.

All you need to do is get them into Outlook, which the iPhone can then sync with through iTunes. If you have a cable for your phone, you can get it to the PC that way, otherwise you'll probably have to find a way to use Bluetooth.

One good thing is that once you get all your contacts on your PC, you'll never have to re-enter them again if you stick with smartphones:wink:

Use the Motorola Phone Tools (which you can download off their site) to get the contacts into Outlook. You can then sync from Outlook via iTunes.

Excellent...that was the plan. I don't have a connector cable for my phone and the computer (wasn't aware there was one for the Razor) but I can easily just dump them via Bluetooth.

I just hope I can dump all and not be forced to do it one by one.

Is there a way to get this without paying $35?

I have the software, but it won't work on my new vista computer, so I haven't been able to use it.

There is always a way, but there isn't a legal way.

I know there are some alternative programs that are free and/or open source. I can't think of the names off the top of my head though.

If you think of a way, let me know.

I enjoyed being able to take songs and pictures from my computer and putting them on my phone, but now I'm not able to do that with my vista computer.

Try e-mailing a song to [your phone number]@vzwpix.com, I think it is. Let's say your cell is 515-555-1212. I think you can e-mail to [email protected] and then save the song/pix to the phone.

I've got a US Cellular phone. Not sure if there is a way to do it with them or not.

I personally never had Sprint but I've had US Cell, Verizon, and now currently AT&T.

I currently have AT&T and the old iPhone and it's the best phone out right now by a long shot. The web browsing, iPod, text messageing, visual voicemail, google maps features are amazing. Not to mention how easy it is to use any of those.

With the new iPhone 3G, it has all of the above PLUS GPS and a new exchange server but that cost extra if u need to use it.

Why are people even complaining about the price? THE PHONE IS $199. I bought mine at $399 and thought it was a steal cuz it's the best electronic device I've ever bought. I know the data is more expensive and blah blah.
Breakdown:
Old iPhone - 399(phone) + 480 (data)(20x24) = $ 879
New Iphone - 199(phone) + 720 (data)(30x24) = $ 919
New iPhone - 199(phone) + 840 (data)(35x24) = $ 1039
+ 200 texts (text)

If you get the new iPhone 3G without the text, you are only paying $40 dollars more!! If you buy it with the text, you are paying 160 more but that's only $6.66 a month more for the 2 years.

People make such a big deal about the 3G service but since the phone is WI-FI, there isnt' areas where you don't have WI-FI. Also AT&T has easily the best data coverage in the US. Sprint has the EVDL but that's like 3G, it's not everywhere. Verizon's data coverage is not very good also cuz they use different towers for their voice and data. When I was with Verizon, I would be traveling and not get any text messages but all of a sudden I get like 5. I found out that it's because I was not in near a data tower and once I made it to one, it sent me all the texts.

One main concern that I had before I bought the iPhone, is the typing. Since it's all touchscreen, I have bigger fingers and thought I would misspell alot of words. That's where the auto-correction program amazed me. Not only does it autocorrect, it recognizes the words that you use alot that aren't in the dictionary that you want to type if you typed those words a few times previously.

To answer the question of IS IT WORTH IT? My answer is simple, YES. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is even close to the iPhone right now.

You also have to recognize the fact that you are getting a constantly evolving and developing device and platform. If you have a Windows Mobile device, you are lucky if you get any updates or upgrades for your device EVER. Apple is rolling out all of the new features (absent GPS and 3G obviously) to existing 2G customers. While MS does provide updates, you can only get them if your carrier deems it worthy, and they never do. The only exception is some devices are going from WinMobile 6.0 to 6.1 right now but that is still a far leap back in comparison to the progress of the Apps Store, etc on the iPhone.

I would like to know where you spend most of your time if you are trying to tell me that you are never anywhere where you don't have access to Wi-Fi. EVDO on Sprint is in far more places than you will find Wi-Fi hotspots, and for the sorts of things you would try to do on a phone the speeds are great. Can't really comment on Verizon's data coverage as I wasn't much of a data user when I was with them, but your experience seems similar to what I have heard from others.

Two places where I spend most of my time is work and home, and both have WI-FI. The only other time that I would use the Internet on my phone is going to be on a road trip somewhere, where I really don't need it to be blazing speed because I pretty much have all the time I need.

I would hope that EVDO is more places cuz that's how Sprint is getting customers right now where 3G isn't. I don't really have anything against Sprint, although they are struggling as a company, because I really like that $99 unlimited everything plan.

I think my favorite part about my mogul and sprints service is it doesn't cost extra to use my phone as a modem. Do the new iphones have that ability?
