Tho

Those unis sucked and it wasn’t due to the program sucking then.
As always, folks will always have different opinions on uniforms. Death, taxes, and varying opinions on uniforms!

As @cyclones500 stated, some of that uniform is now dated, but the reason I don't particularly like it is that when we had it the cardinal and the gold were both too bright. IMO.

The cardinal has darkened some now, but the gold hasn't. It is still the harsh, bright mustard yellow, essentially, that we turned to in the mid 70's, was it? [Edit: 1979, ISU turned to the brighter gold.]

Anyway, add a darker shade of gold (I'm a broken record), then we can bring back a gold helmet and pant in style.

Elements of that design don’t work well as a unit and some design is dated, but if done well it could merge into the script helmet revival alongside current format.

I wouldn't try and bring the 80s look back wholesale. I was just saying we're already reincorporating many of its design elements... so why not go all the way taking what was best from that era (a bad era for football but most our eras are bad but at least they looked good at the time) and making it all work together?

Basically...

Gold helmet with cardinal Cyclones script with white outline
Cardinal/white/cardinal "NFL stripe" down the middle
Current cardinal jerseys
I'm burnt out on the cardinal/gold shade arguments... the current ones are fine
Either current gold pants or add a cardinal/white/cardinal stripe complex for consistency

Boom. Great look.

Rotate that with C/C/W at home and we'll never have a bad sartorial day.

I don't blame you for tiring on the 'gold' argument.

Me, they will probably be carrying me out on a stretcher. There are aspects of the current gold/yellow that I like, keep it, sure. Add a darker, less harsh gold. Use that for the gold helmet and pant. Everybody is happy.

I still don't know exactly why we changed our perfectly fine late '60's -'70's gold to one form of bright gold/yellow or another. And don't tell me it is our historical gold. Who cares what it was in the early 1900's.
