I'd go 4-8, and I think I'm being optimistic. Looks like everybody's picking the lowest record (or lower with "other")
Well anything less then 6-6 would be a losing season with no bowl implications
I did not want to make this a long selection, just the basics for now. Later I will make one that has 12 selections, once we see the team come together
4-8. Anyone who thinks we will have a winning record must know something I don't or are simply delusional.
I think 3-9/4-8 is realistic considering many of our "winnable" games are on the road. If we had the schedule we had this year I'd say we could do better, but that's because I didn't expect us to beat Iowa/Texas/Oklahoma on the road or at home. Flipping that schedule puts us on the road for games against Missouri, Kansas, and Toledo. Not good for the new coach in my opinion.
5-7, with wins over Kent, Iowa, UNI, Toledo, and CU. I would love to see a .500+ record, but that would be a miracle. I do think we will look better in our losses, and some of those 7 could be real heartbreakers that we had a fighting chance in. Still, I think its a real stretch to expect anything more than 5 wins out of a team losing some good players and playing under a whole new system.
I'm joining the 4 win crowd. Anything more than 4 wins this year and Chizik should be coach of the year.
Note of interest. In my lifetime from Stapleton to Chizik, every first year of each coaching regime the average wins is about three and a half wins. I dont think it will change this year.

LOL, that is only for a way overrated Big 10 team and you go 2-6 in a weak conference.
Although I think it will be another 4-8 season, the possibility of a 6 win season is not impossible. We will have a senior QB with a few good recievers left. Finally, Stagnant Stevie Hicks and his injuries have graduated & we are pushing for some immediate help from JUCO lineman. We could potentially punch a few teams in the teeth, much like Kansas State did.

2-10.with all of our recruits going to UNI,UNI WILL BE A TOUGH GAME. .IOWA WILL BE BETTER COACHED ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL WITH FATBOY PARKER CALLING THEIR DEFENSE STUPS.the squawks will not be potent on offense.defense wins this game. we will not beat toledo on their home turf. they almost beat us on our own turf.home field advantage and many returning players help toledo win.kent will bea win. we will have a tough time in winning any conference games.
6-6 or better is quite a stretch I think. Not like this team returning did much last season and we just lost nearly the entire O-Line and some key defensive players (Mackenzie, Curvey, Jackson, Moorehead.) We lost a big chunk of our running game that didn't do much to begin with in Kock and Hicks plus Flynn and Davis were above average receivers. To expect a first year coach that has a lot of rebuilding to do to have a winning season right away I think is asking too much. I'd shoot for 5 wins as a realistic goal this next season then see how the recruiting classes pan out.
2-10?? Are you crazy? We managed to win 4 games this year with pathetic offensive playcalling and an incredibly young defense. 2-10 would be worse case scenario, which with Chizik at the helm, I don't see happening. I would say 5-7 is more realisitic.

I think having no expectations for year 1 of the Chizik era is the best thing right now. He has not coached a single game as the head coach at ISU and we already have people making him out as a savior practically. Realistically it's going to take more patience than the b-ball team and we've been spoiled by that early success so far that we think the same is going to happen in football. I honestly don't think we are going to see what everyone is hoping for until probably year 3 of Chizik. It takes time and hard work to get your own recruits and system in place. Especially at a place like ISU where traditionally it has been hard to recruit players to come to.
