Clearly you don't have to be in the athletic program to get these. Thanks for the help guys. You suck.

You might not have to be in the athletic programs at those schools. But as far as I know, at Iowa State, you do.

Just so you know, since you're telling everyone off, those are not the real letterman jackets like the Iowa State one you pictured in your real post.

Look long and hard at the replies. Then read them again. And probably again. What do you see?.....

Got it yet?.....

No?....

Okay one more time, they are ISU Letterman jackets!! When you see someone wearing one it actually signifies something significant about the individual wearing it related to our University. Joe Schmo (or iowast8fan) doesn't walk around in them. They aren't for sale. Go buy an Iowa letterman's jacket and tell everyone your played for Captain Kirk if you want.

Anyone know where I can buy an Iowa State Letterman's type jacket? You know, the ones with read leather sleeves and wool body. I have seen Hawkeye ones that look great if I were a hawk fan, but never a cyclone one....except on isu athletes.

I have seen one before at Goodwill in Ames. Other than that, you may have to beat up a swimmer to get your hands on one of these.

I think that was his point. He was looking for a letterman TYPE jacket with the leather arms and wooly body - as he pointed out in the first post.

I'll be honset, I've been interested in the same thing. I've never found a good winter ISU jacket to wear to games, and thought if I found something along the lines of a letterman TYPE jacket that it would make for good apparel to support ISU during very cold evening games.

But of course, everyone has an opinion other than what the poster was asking for.

Now that the original post has been added to use the work "Like", he should be able to go to T-Galaxy or Intensitee and order a jacket like that. My parents used to own a clothing store, and they were able to order letterman jackets in various color combos. Only problem will be you more than likely have to order 6 or 12 of them.

Letterman jackets are far from a good winter jacket.

Be carefull ISU is very picky about where its logo goes.

Apologize, was unaware the original post was changed. Definately a difference between getting a letterman jacket, and getting a jacket that looks like a letterman jacket.

Really...that's interesting. I figured with the leather arms and thicker body it would block a lot of the wind. Understanding that layers would be necessary underneath.

I wish there was a better option than those "puffy" coats, or expensive leather coats for a winter ISU jacket.

Wear a sweatshirt underneath and you would be ok. They would work alone for 30ish weather but below that you would want more.

I live in Iowa City, I think I'm going to get one of those UofI letterman jackets and take it to T-galaxy or one of those places that will add lettering and just get something terribly expletive on the back. like maybe "Rapist"? any other ideas?

I love wearing my letter jacket to cold games, with a sweatshirt they are incredibly warm to me

That is why I told him.

Just confirming with personal experience. Also, i hit the quote button then got a phone call and distracted while i was typing my response and didn't notice your next post. For the Baylor game I had a long sleeve t-shirt under my letter jacket and was just fine

Don't do it... Most actual lettermen don't even wear them after they graduate unless it's a special event or something...

Letterman jackets are far from a good winter jacket.

I always thought they were great with a hoodie underneath.

I still have three of my father's ISU letterman jackets. Its from the early 50s and actually looks identical to the ones they still wear. All of his are gold on the inside and are reversable. Looking at pictures from growing up I'm noticing that he wore them a lot ... more than he wore his Harvard garbs.

I'll admit that I don't like the practice, but I think I've seen something like what you are looking for. The difference would be that the sleeves weren't cardinal (more tan leather) which was the giveaway that it wasn't the real deal. Unfortunately, I don't recall where I saw it.

I wonder what would happen if ISU allowed for someone to sell some sort of knock-off with the I-state logo/tan sleeves instead of the Gold I with cardinal sleeves? I wouldn't buy one as it wouldn't be like my authentic one that is a little tight on me these days.

I wish I could find my high school one. They play Solon tonight in 2A, prolly not gonna be good. Although we beat them in Solon my senior season.

I never thought they were great for warmth, but I had the cheaper version with vinyl sleeves rather than leather. The concept is good since my core is always warm, but my arms are cold.
