Wish it could of been decided sooner so they could relish it in the moment but this is still really freakin' cool.
A fourth place trophy is kinda stupid but that's cool for the guys I guess.
It is stupid, but whatever good for the guys.
You must not be a big wrestling fan. Historically, trophies in wrestling have been given to the top 4 teams. Last year was the first year the NCAA did not award a trophy to the 4th place team, so to get 4th but not get hardware for it was frustrating. It is a big deal to get top 4 as a team in wrestling, and the trophy is well deserved by the team and not "stupid" at all.
Getting a 4th place trophy is the equivalent to making the final four or winning a NY6. It’s very cool.

I don’t think they meant that the trophy itself is stupid because it’s awesome and hardware is hardware. Nor do I think the posters above aren’t acknowledging the fact they have always awarded a fourth place trophy up until this year. My guess is their “stupid” comment is the fact that a fourth place trophy was ever given out over the decades. I am fine with it, and it’s really not a big deal because the coaches, athletes and fans love it. But it is a very strange number to do as typically a top-3 (gold, silver, bronze type of thing makes sense) or a top-5. Top-4 is just a number you almost never see, so it sticks out in American sport’s culture. That’s all.
But this guy loves that the boys are getting this thing!
The fact that the 4th place trophy was going to stop being given the year ISU won it is the most ISU thing ever it feels like. Glad they are correcting this!

Yeah, the boys were a Yonger loss from 3rd anyway. But can't hate on him, he had an extremely fun season. Just an unfortunate ending.

Lordy people I had no clue they gave out 4 trophys. Seems weird but whatever if its tradition. Calm down I didnt know.
100% correct. Just talking for non-wrestling folks who don’t know it’s a bit of an odd (yes it’s an even number lol) to give trophies to the top-4 because most sports aren’t done that way.
