LW was voted the 6th man of the year in the conference, and averaged more minutes on the floor than some of the starters and that is still not enough for the writer of this article.
This team faced the same problem the whole year, to many "me first" guys and not enough people playing for the name of the front of the jersey. ISU was one of the most talented teams in the league, but they never became a team, and it showed in the loses.
Its easy to play carefree when the shots are falling like their were in the Big 12 tournament, but when they weren't falling, is when they quickly reverted back to just chucking up shots, forgetting to rebound the ball, and the "I am going to get mine" attitude that was a problem all year.
TT proved again this year, that less offense but great defense gets you a long ways in the tournament. When Larry E. arrived in Ames, I hated the way we played BB, was used to the days of Johnny Orr, where ISU ran the floor and was exciting to watch, now we are scoring the in the 50's. But then I noticed something different, we were winning, every trip down the floor was a battle, we were grinding people. Was it a fun to watch as the Orr teams, no, but we won the games, and with that came the top 10 rankings and high seeds. Also conference championship. Lets rebuild with that mindset, D it up and let the chips fall where they may.
