Isn't there a mercy rule? they probably didn't even play the second half, or at least the 4th quarter.
In Iowa high school football, the mercy rule is to let the clock run. Once a team has a 35- point lead in the second half, the clock will only stop for scores, injuries and time outs. Incomplete passes, change of possession, first downs, out of bounds - the clock keeps on ticking. You'd be surprised how fast the game ends once that kicks in.
I've seen a lot of it this season. Xavier has put the continuous clock on six of their seven opponents, and has a total of over 80 minutes of continuous clock running this season. That's about half of all their second half time this year.
As to the original question - I am also frustrated by the lack of timely score updates online. While I'm doing Xavier play-by-play, I'd like to be able to tell listeners about other scores in the conference. It's a royal pain to get anything current. The CR Gazette has a scoreboard page, but they are usually at least a full quarter behind, and sometimes more. I don't have much time on the air to sift through Twitter, even using the #iahsfb tag.
