Re: Ioea Girls Championship

At 4 pm today, Nevada and their star freshman post player Lexi Koudalka will take on Pocahontas Area. Who knows Lexi may be a Cyclone someday.

It's ridiculous how good she is as a freshman. Pocahontas Area has a guard (Elle Ruffridge) that is on pace to break the Iowa 5 player scoring mark. If we contain her I feel good about our chances.

Lexi, who I think will be a future Cyclone because I know she loves being close to home, went for (I think) 16 and 13 today in the championship.

As they mic'd up the coach during a timeout, it sounded like she was using Lexi as a Georges Niang, but more as a post. They were wanting to go low and kick it out to the three point shooters, so it was up to Lexi to get the ball low, force the defense to double the post, and boom, left their best three point shooter open.

Nevada has all their starters back next year and should be in good shape to return to the state tournament.

Rulzzz, I wish we would have had fans like you when I played high school girls basketball. A lot of empty gyms and we really weren't terrible, never had a losing season when I was in high school. One road game, we counted 11 people in the stands.:embarrassed: Of course, I'm old enough, we were lucky we had electric lights.

Well have to admit I didn't make it to most of their games due to ISU mbb and wbb season Tix. Went to home game with Gilbert (Hoiberg factor) and all the postseason games. Next year I'm all in and I hope every home game the girls get a packed home crowd. The Gilbert home game the Nevada crowd for girls game was half the size of the boys game (and the Nevada Boys aren't very good).

Nevada doesn't have a huge history of Athletic success in the popular sports so this past month (districts and state) was something I'll never forget.
