If you live in Urbandale you can just drive over to 72nd Street and stay at the Wells Bed and Breakfast. Since I live 2 blocks away I will even come over and drink a few beers with you

I live very close to this B&B too. This place rarely has anyone staying there. If you need someplace to stay in the DSM area I would think this place would be willing to give you a good deal. The B&B was built new about 2 or 3 years ago so I would assume the accomodations would be very nice. Its a fairly quite area.

So far this looks to be the winner

Farmers Guest House: A Galena Bed and Breakfast, Illinois

Spa services, hot but, billiards, big screen tv, and a nostalagic little town to wander around in.

Nearby places looked good too but we wanted to "get away" so to speak.

Thanks for all the good replies. I will say after a day of searching google and following up on every one's suggestions I'm amazed at the number of BnB's in Iowa

There's one in Hornick, Iowa, where they filmed scenes of "Children of the Corn". We spent our wedding night there. How many people can say that?

They keep filming sequels. Jut wait long enough and you might see them again.
