This writer has stirred up a hornet's nest with that question...fans of the Steelers and Cowboys don't like each other much to begin with! Now they have this to debate:

ESPN - Is Big Ben an elite quarterback? - Hashmarks By Matt Mosley

So...who would you rather have? As a Steeler fan...I don't even think it is worth debating...one of the guys needs to win a playoff game before he jumps into this debate!

It's a huge contract for sure -but it's 8 years! So I think it's brilliant by the Steelers. The NFL's Salary cap will almost double in the next 5 years. So by setting up an 8 year deal that is (assumed) higher on the back end, he will be one of the average-paid QB's during his prime (29-32)...

I agree you really can't compare the 2 yet, though they are similar. Romo has a very good line, Ben runs for his life every passing down (this year anyway). I'd be wary of an 8 yr deal with Romo though, just not sure he's 100% committed and/or proven like the Elways of the world...

I think they're both fantastic QBs. And I could take either one. You have to remember that Ben didn't have to win football games in '05, but he just couldn't lose them. Between the D, the Bus and Parker, he just had to take care of the ball. Yes he had some fantastic games, especially in the playoffs, but he wasn't overly spectacular. Last season was his only great QB season so far, and that didn't get them anywhere (especially when he didn't have a running game after Parker went down).
Romo has one season, really, under his belt. The Cowboys had other parts fail them in regards to his two playoff losses. Just because not every QB wins a title in their freshman year does it mean they are lesser than the other.

Sidenote: just cuz I live in Dallas, don't think i'm a supporter or apologist. I hate the Cowboys. ;)

Ben has a SB title and Romo is still searching for his first playoff win. Kind of easy who the "better" QB is.

However, I'll keep Romo over almost any QB in the NFL right now, except 2 or 3 other guys.

I'd definitely go with Big Ben over Romo.....but I have Steelers bias. Still, I'm amazed at Ben's "escapability."

As a Steelers fanatic, I was very pleased to see we have a quarterback for life in Big Ben....especially after the O'Donnell, Stewart, Maddox years (although each of those did have their moments).

I will take Cowboy Romeo. He had a fling with Jessica and still thows good passes. Ben can't even ride a motorcycle.

I don't like either team so I'd like to think this is not biased. Big Ben has a ring. They said his record as a starter was 40-16 (ish) on PTI. Romo's has to be pretty good as well. Romo wouldn't have the stats without TO and I don't believe Hines Ward is a top receiver like TO. Big Ben would be my pick.

I would take Romo, he brings better eye candy to the game. Without thinking too much about this I would take Romo, but after looking at each guy you have to go with Big Ben as of now. In 2010 I will take Romo though.
